I picked it up yesterday and I really like it and recommend it. But with Mayer, it seems like people really like his music or really dislike his music. There's not much of an in-between.

Anyone else heard the album? Thoughts?

Really slow compared to previous albums. Good music though. I saw him in concert at the Fedex Forum in March of 2010.

He's an unbelievable guitarist. Will be checking the album out very soon.

Not any more slower than Continuum or Battle Studies.

I love it. Didn't really care for Battle Studies.

Queen of CA
Age of Worry
Speak to Me
Something Like Olivia
If I Ever Get Around to Living
Walt Grace's

My favorites. He really needs to come out with a Trio studio album. I've been hoping to hear that for years.

Truly expected to open this thread and find nothing but Mayer hate

I listened to it once on spotify. Seemed slow, but decent.
I really like some of his stuff. Brilliant guitarist, just kind of a dork.
He hit on my wife while Jessica Simpson was with him when he was in Knoxville a few years ago.

My favorite song on the album. Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey.

Good song. I'm surprised by how much I'm liking this album. I was worried after hearing Shadow Days a couple of months ago. It's grown on me though.

I was there. It was when I was in radio and he was doing a show with my station. I had just finished interviewing him.

Gotta take that as a compliment, he's got a solid track record in that department.

I like the album. His voice is less annoying than usual, and his guitar playing is more subtle than the other songs/albums I've heard, but still effective and appropriate.

Really like this album after first listen. Some songs have an Allman Brothers feel, some Neil Young.

"Born and Raised"
"Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey"
"Queen of California"
"Shadow Days"

Tracks that standout the most at this point. Have to give a few more listens to get an overall feel.

Dude I know who is an excellent guitarist claims he is in the same league as Hendrix and Stevie ray Vaughn. If you know what he is really doing it is quite impressive, just not as flashy. (this is excluding his commercialized bubble gum stuff)

He's about as talented as they come, most of his play is subtle, he simply highlights the song instead of ripping the fretboard in half.

He's not in Hendrix's atmosphere simply because of innovation, playing ability sure.

He's as good as SRV.
