John Kelly Declares for NFL Draft

I like John Kelly a lot as he represents himself and the university well, but this is a bad decision. There are probably 20 RBs considered better than him in this really deep class. He's a day 3 pick at best, IMO.

Until his arrest / suspension I thought he was definitely ready to head to the NFL but afterwards his performance appeared to regress a bit. Hard to say if it was him, the train wreck of an OL, or the general implosion of the program. I do believe he has elite balance and the physical tools to be a successful NFL RB. Also, he's a low mileage RB as he didn't get many carries his first 2 seasons. If I were an NFL GM I'd take a mid-round chance on him. Wishing the best for him and his success!

No loss really. We don't need dopers on the team. And he will be back next fall on the sidelines after the final NFL cuts are made.

This draft class is going to be totally loaded at the RB position.

My guess is 4th round pick if he's very lucky but most likely a 5th or later round if he gets drafted at all.

I wish him all the best and I hope he lights it up in the NFL.

VFL...GBO!!!

Good move by JK. I wish him the best of luck!

I know some think he should come back for Senior year, but:

(a) the shelf life of Running Backs is limited; he should get paid while he can, and
(b) he was one of the few players on this team that fit perfectly in Butch's offense

It makes sense for him to leave with the coaching change. Thankful for the 3 years he gave us. Disappointed his talent was wasted by such poor coaching on the offense.

To me, a really good RB will work well in any system.

It’s weed not ****ing heroin , you’d **** your pants if you actually knew how many athletes both pro and college toke it up..

Thanks for the Memories JK! Big Blow , Pruitt must be garbage. We kept Gillespie and kelly still leaves. That should tell you about the new staffs vision and offensive scheme.

????

Little early to be labeling Pruitt at all much less this way, don't you think.

What you say leads me to think you think Kelly knows more about what's going to happen than the coach and staff coming are thinking.

Huge mistake IMO. Phenomenal talent that would've been taken early if he had a year running behind be a decent line.

I think he will be good in the league but he likely won't get drafted early.

He's a 3rd round pick. He is making the right decision. Time to get paid.

Let me be clear, I only want what's best for JK but I am fearful leaving early is a mistake. Another year would have been beneficial..jmo

I'm willing to bet if what you are saying were to be enforced, half of our team would be gone. Hell, half of the rosters across the NCAA would be gone.

So if everyone is doing it, it's OK then?

Or is it just the stupid ones that get caught driving a car with headlights out while smokin' a joint that we have to look the other way with?

No way, there's at least 6 RBs just in the SEC that will be drafted before him. And another 10+ at other schools. He will be lucky to make it in the later rounds.

Don't forget your skateboard ya pothead!!

Jk?

I don't understand why we just think its fine that our Juniors seem to go pro, but Kirby keeping Michele and Chubb and getting them to stay for their senior year, when they were projected much higher than JK, shows what it takes to win. UGA wouldn't be in the CFP if those two declared last year.

In most cases RBs are way better off going ahead and making the jump due to the short shelf live of RBs. Michel and Chubb both had disappointing 16 seasons for various reasons and both could make sense of coming back and sharing the load while helping their draft status.

If Nick and Sony would have been looking at coming back and playing for a first yr head coach, they would have likely made the jump. Since Kirby presented them with a plan to limit their carries and still be productive, it made a little more sense.

We give our all to these young men and they cant even give us 4 years. This is why the younger generation fails so much. Chasing rap music and gold teeth.

What did you give JK? What does he owe you?How do you chase music? Or gold teeth?

So much dumb in one post. It is truly impressive.

Lmao add 3 more rounds, and thats probably if he’s lucky. Pre-Marinuana, probably in the 3rd round range.

What is Marinuana?

I am really surprised by this. Kelly's draft stock cannot be that good and with Pruitt looking to come in with a pro style offense that will surely feature Kelly more and most certainly put him behind a more improved OLine, I would think Kelly would have the chance to improve his stock significantly his senior season.

I think this is a bad decision, look how deep the RB class is. Unless Kelly tears it up at the combine he will either be late round or not drafted.

I wish the guy all the success in the world. I hope he’s a superstar in the NFL. But, I don’t believe that he will be. I’m not sure he’ll even make a roster.

Personally, I think he ought to be able to come back and play CFB if he goes undrafted and does not sign any undrafted FA contract.
