John Kelly Declares for NFL Draft

Here is my take. Obviously not a coach of any sort nor NFL scout for that matter. With the new pro style scheme more than likely with Pruitt. Kelly wouldnt gain as many yards as the the Zone read. However pro style offense would show scouts of more accurate potential as well as fine tune other important skills Kelly will need to improve in like pass blocking. So barring injury I believe he could improve his draft stock. That's just it. It's his future so if he doesn't want the risk. It's his body and his finances. Wish him well.

Terrible list. You didn't include some of the best RBs from this class. In particular Rashaad Penny and Mark Walton. You also ranked Ronald Jones II too low.

Here are the correct rankings:

1. Saquon Barkley (Penn State) - 1st round talent
2. Raahard Penny (San Diego State) - 1st round talent
3. Ronald Jones II (USC) - 1st round talent
4. John Kelly (Tennessee) - 1st round talent
5. Mark Walton (Miami) - 2nd round talent
6. Bryce Love (Stanford) - 2nd round talent
7. Derrius Guice (LSU) - 2nd round talent
8. Kerryon Johnson (Auburn) - 3rd round talent
9. Bo Scarborough (Alabama) - 3rd round talent (injury risk)
10. Sony Michel (Georgia) - 3rd round talent

Not my list... that was taken from Walterfootball.com. I know you're the expert, D4H. Relax. :good!:

Would love to see one more season at UT, but don't blame him for making the jump. Best of luck to him, he will be missed!

He probably won’t get drafted

That would be bad, but it’s not that far fetched. He’s a 6-7 round back this year...maybe 4th round at best unless he shows out in the combine. This class of RBs is too deep and he is not very proven compared to many others.

I’ll be cheering for him to go much higher than that and have a killer career though.

Then I apologize. It's well known that Walterfootball has no idea what they are talking about.

You're so adorable when you're this FOS. Clearly they're a great source to cite if it backs something you're selling.

Remember when Dobbs was just a 6th-7th round draft pick according to all the "experts" and I said he would ultimately work his way into the 2nd round?

Well here is the first post-Senior Bowl mock draft on WalterFootball.com and voila, Josh Dobbs is now being projected to go in the 2nd round to the Cleveland Browns.

The only reason why Kamara wasn't predicted so early in the draft (BEFORE COMBINE) was because

A)not enough reps
B)Butch never called under center plays (so no tape on it)
C)not as fast as other RBs

now... AFTER the COMBINE .. his stock went up because of the Vertical jump and his 40 was probably faster than others thought. Basically his combine helped tremendously.

Right now, I think JK needs to have a really good combine to get the 2nd/3rd rounders.

His 40 will be impressive...

That's how people who don't know anything think. Tape is the most important thing that matters. And Alvin's tape was SPECTACULAR.

That's why I had him ranked as the #1 RB in the 2017 throughout the entire process. Butch's misuse or the lack of snaps meant nothing to me because whenever Alvin got a chance in 2016 he balled out.

ouch.. I am sure he will do ok at the next level. That being, said no way he goes before round 3 if lucky. No resume. UT is cursed with kids that have bad "support". Kelly and Hurd are the standouts (Brown back in the day) and the bad advice tends to be at the RB position. But then again every year at least 1-2 guys come out early at other positions that make u scratch your head.

I'm. It going to comment on your "who don't know anything" because I have been accused of being mean and making people feel dumb... But nevertheless... Try to be nicer to people than saying "they don't know anything".. 😎

The funny thing is that you think YouTube highlights = watching "tape".

Wish him nothing but the best. He will probably be a 5-6 round pick. Hope he has a great NFL career and gets on a team that has a decent OL and coaching staff.

sadly D4H is right... AK was drafted where he was because of resume or better said lack thereof.

Until the last year when hurd flat quit there was no doubt that he was a better RB than AK. AK is much more than a RB. He is the second coming of Marshall Faulk. In the NFL he is second fiddle behind Ingram just like he was to Hurd here. He just so happens to be in an offense that's tailor made for what he can do.

What he is doing in NO has been done by a RB before every year for the last decade. Reggie Bush, Darren Sproles, Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram.. all of those guys started at second fiddle and eventually took over as the bellcow.

NO has always been a team where tweeners on offense can step out and show their stuff because Sean Payton and Drew Brees give no -ucks. They are gonna give the ball to whoever can get it done. Sounds like common sense but its rarer than u think in a league of egos.

Jimmy Graham was a perennial Pro Bowler in NO went to Seattle and he is just an ok receiving TE. Marques Colston never finished out a full season in the NFL but you know his name because he played in NO. He plays somewhere else he is a WR/TE tweener. NO is the team where tweeners go to get big free agent contracts.

AK is not a tweener. But he has a skill set that needs tape for an OC to take advantage of. NO is the team where they needed no tape because that's what they do. The one thing I can say unequivocally that CBJ and his staff did right was handling AK. If people actually look at stats after hurd left and AK was the main guy he did OK it was Kelly that was showing out.

The reason for NO success is they have an incredible pass game... I am not talking about stats... I am talking about scheme they have one of the most versatile route concepts in the NFL... That's why you see them have success to a (certain level) and the reason why the took the next step is because of the implementation of their running game. The sheer amount of possibilities that come from there backfield makes the AK's of the world very dangerous in a system that gives them the space to succeed.
