John Jancek's future at Tennessee

Several things to pick apart in your post but I'm gonna go with we DO NOT have one of the best defenses in the nation. Period. Stats DO matter. Look at the number of first downs we have given up this year.

You cannot define a defense on one stat alone. Here. I'll prove it. The following link tells the way a team got throttled. The funny thing is, that team didn't give up a single first down during the game.

A collection of stats is the only way.

If priuitt is such a great d coach, why isn't cmr not taking him to Miami?

Also, I keep seeing it was out d that lost us those tight games, but I recall them a little differently. I recall our offense going stale upon reaching 17 points and keeping the defense on the fireld the majority of the second half and the offense not being able to score this leading to the comebacks. Our lack of offense lost most of those games.

As Butch would say, "I don't have time to worry about what another program is doing or how they are losing/winning". I've watched every snap of UT football this year and we have some issues with play calling on defense. And yes, we are not exactly ranked at the top of the league in defense statistics, but that's not the sole reason why we need an upgrade

Because Pruitt has better options than a down and out Miami program. Don't believe everything you hear. Pruitt doesn't want to go to Miami.

You are recalling wrong, just like many others.

In the OU game, our offense had over a 3 minute lead in time of possession in the second half before OU scored their first TD.

In the UF game, our offense went on a 7:26 TD drive that made the score 27-14 in the 4th qtr and was dominating time of possession in the second half, 13:33 to 6:08.

I think a lot of people remember the 3 and outs in between OU's two scores and in between UF's final two scores and think our offense was totally inept in the entire second half causing our defense to tire. It's just not true. Our defense caused our defense to tire out just as much, if not more, as the offense did.

Don't call me a troll. I've been on this board before you were born

So, do you think the guy you are replying to is younger than 8? Don't know many 7 year olds posting on this forum. I know some with the knowledge of a 7 year old, but I don't anyone is 7.

Nobody is telling me anything. I'm simply saying that the perception of Butch Jones outside of Tennessee is that he isn't all that smart and that he's a choke artist. Nobody except our fans are interested in his excuses or his coach speak. Plus, I think even the biggest Butch apologists realize that it will get ugly if we lose to Florida next year. Don't need sources for that.

Perception of who? All the geniuses you have obviously surrounded yourself with? It's very amusing to me when simpletons declare whether a person is lacking intelligence or not. And thanks for telling us you don't have any sources. Kinda contradicts what you posted earlier about what you heard from your supposed sources. You can't even keep up with your own tripe much less give an informed opinion as to why you think defensive coordinators would shy away from coming to Tennessee.

I like Jancek as a DC, he's a solid coach. The players seem to play hard for him, and that means a lot. I really like his energy on the sideline, I think it rubs off on his players. My only complaint would be that he doesn't change things up enough, we are too predictable at times.

I think Willie Martinez might be a little more likely to join Richt's staff at Miami since he is a former Miami alum and has a coaching history with Richt.

I post on an SEC forum sometimes, and some fans of other teams do view Butch as an unintelligent coach. They think he can recruit with anybody, but in close SEC games he will get outcoached or choke. I'm not saying they are right, but that is the perception of at least some SEC fans. Butch really hurt his creditability with the Fla and OK losses.:fool:

Again, what are these anonymous fans credibility? Did they play at a high level? Coach somewhere anywhere? Do they know anything about the game of football outside of Madden and watching it on TV? If the answer is no, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in what some random azzclown says about Butch Jones.

Same said azzclowns will jump on a Saban loss and declare him washed up. Real credible source. :glare:

I'm just pointing out that the perception is there. Real football people will tell you that Butch is far from dumb, but to your regular SEC fan of other teams, who follow Tennessee about as closely as we do say Ole Miss, Butch is not held in high regard. It's kind of like Les Miles, people think he's an idiot. You don't do what he's done by being an idiot, and you don't get where Butch and his program is by not being smart either. I am very happy with Butch Jones, and if other teams fans think he's not smart that's fine.

So? Fans of other teams are as clueless about our team's reality as we are theirs? :dunno:

1.Vols must improve secondary play somehow, both tackling and pass defense.
2. Vols must improve in passing game and have improved play by the receivers as well.

Butch Jones is extremely well known and connect with nfl, nba, wnba, you name it. He is very well known and respected around the world of sport in general.

Tackling....and proper angles for everyone...
And DB technique....play both the player and the ball.

We've got to find some healthy receivers that can get open.
I almost don't even care anymore how fast they are.

The WR from Bowling Green would have single handledly beat us if we had an offense like, say, Georgia. I encourage everyone to go look at how badly Georgia's offense was against Bama. They repeatedly put their defense in terrible situations and gave up special teams touchdowns and pick 6s. The entire playbook was open for Bama on EVERY SINGLE play of the game.

I prefer to look at Georgia's defense against Alabama to see how Pruitt does in high pressure situations.

Alabama had 17 points off Defense/Special teams. And Georgia's D was asked to defend Bama in short field situations while facing an early deficit due to their inept offense. And of course, the top Heisman candidate took advantage.

Why is no one talking about Kirby Smart against Ole Miss? And with the game on the line Tennesee marched right down field in 4 plays and took a late lead against Smart's defense

Pruitt? Have you people lost your everloving minds. Jancek is a bad coach for losing 17 point leads, yet Pruitt gives up a 21 point to UT and over 500 yards of offense and you want him? That's either crazy or stupid.
