John Jancek's future at Tennessee

I've heard Pruitt is a cancer to a staff

So, it would be better to keep Jancek

Plus, Pruitt's D wasn't spectacular at Georgia

If Barry Odom is available, he would be a definite upgrade

I was hoping that Bud Foster wouldn't be retained at VT and we would take a run at him

But without those two not likely available, its just best to keep Jancek

Whats his defensive stop percentage on 4th down? Thats my only issue with Janceks defenses? Im happy with Jancek but all those 4th down conversions against us have hurt us badly. Especially 4th &14. Sigh but again naw lets keep what we have.

If we can get Pruitt.....(Ric Flair Voice) Woooooooooooo!

You need to go back and watch the video (assuming you would know what to look for). Several of Pruitt's players were dogging it (no pun intended)...I don't want a coach who cannot get his players to play hard for him.

Money talks and CBJ is slowly building the program to high SEC level and he shows signs of being coach into the future. I think top DC's would listen. I agree with folks that Jancek and Debord should leave.

Well, I disagree. Very much so. I think they both did very good jobs with all things considered. And, I like having some continuity for a change.

Plus, given how little we pay coordinators compared to the rest of the SEC, who are you going to get who is better?

You don't always upgrade with a change. Ever hear of Dave Clawsen?

I wouldn't think that CBJ would let Jancek go,other than him moving to coach somewhere else,I thought the defense did pretty good considering the injuries and having to play a bunch of young players

After what Pruitt put the Ga AD through over the practice facility I would love to see what he could do to Hart.

Lots of chatter about coaching turnover on Butch's staff. Some media members even saying there may be a surprise change. Overall we had a pretty good season (mostly due to offensive firepower), but we definitely underperformed on defense. We ranked near the bottom of the conference in yards allowed per game and points allowed per game. With the success Florida has had this season with a very incompetent offense, Butch has to look at that and think what if we were more efficient on defense?

Butch talked in the presser today about continuing to move the program forward. Jancek hasn't done a terrible job the past few years. We have definitely had some great moments on the defense and it's a lot better than 2008-2012. But if Butch is serious about moving the program forward to a championship level then he must part ways with Jancek and go get Jeremy Pruitt.

What did Pruitt do at Georgia to prove that's he's a capable defensive coordinator in the SEC?

Hire Dick Lebeau (hey, Titans will get a new HC next year)... :p

Jancek has done fine. I pin the late lead collapses on offense + walk on MLB + only one good corner for most of these poor performances.

If we got Pruitt, it would just to get Georgia's recruits lol

That and to get an outstanding DC. Georgia defense was 3rd in the SEC this season in total defense (UT was 8th), allowing only 298 yds and 17 ppg.

Can we just leave the staff alone? This program has gotten better by the year. Our losses were a byproduct of a few select plays that weren't capitalized on. We got blown out by nobody this year. Leave the staff alone Butch.

KB,
Are you in favor of switching to a 3-4 defense? Would be a huge mistake IMO.

Against teams with losing records. Against teams with winning records they gave up 34ppg

If we switch to a 34 defense in what is supposed to be "the year" in 2016 I will probably cry.

Absolutely not. Tbh, didn't even consider that. I retract my previous post 😁

I am utterly terrified of making big changes to any part of our staff with the progress this program has made over the course of 3 years. I honestly do not think Bajakian would have been nearly as successful as DeBord in terms of managing the running game. Huge props to Coach Mike DeBord. With regard to the defense, I would like to see Jancek dial up more pressure in 3rd down situations, but I certainly do not think he needs to be replaced. Continuity cannot be overemphasized in this program. Let's just continue to grow.

I respect your opinion. But not everybody agrees. If their can be an upgrade then imo that would be better for the program.

A few games were blown bc of mostly coaching imo
