John Jancek's future at Tennessee

I really am not sold on Butch yet, either. I love him and his approach, but have we really beaten anyone that we shouldn't have except maybe Ga.? He still needs to beat one of the "Big Boys" (Ala., Fla., Ok., LSU type, etc.) . The VT game next year will really be the game that will tell the kind of season we have next yr. If we win, we look at possible 10-2 or 11-1, depending on the Fla. game. Still won't beat Bama regardless of Smart or Pruitt.

Agree, considering we got boat raced in Tuscaloosa this year and the fact we will not get any better by Oct 2016 we wont stand a chance in Knoxville against them.

What about Odom? Mizzou's O was terrible and dline was depleted and they still had a top 10 D.

I'm not sure if any of our staff leaves, but Mizzou's D has been doing more with less since they have entered the SEC. If we do have any departures I hope they look at some of those guys.

Money talks and CBJ is slowly building the program to high SEC level and he shows signs of being coach into the future. I think top DC's would listen. I agree with folks that Jancek and Debord should leave.

Nobody is telling me anything. I'm simply saying that the perception of Butch Jones outside of Tennessee is that he isn't all that smart and that he's a choke artist.

I've found that to be far from the truth. In fact, it seems to be much more prevalent in a small but vocal group of UT fans. That includes people like you who continue to insult him both personally and professionally. It's quite sad to see UT "fans" sink to such a level

Debord hasn't really been the problem...

Jancek had a pretty solid year and I think our defense played really well most of the time. The late game collapses are due to the stupid and super conservative BS by Debord/Jones every time we got a two score lead, absolutely gassing our defense by the end of the game and not being able to get off the field. You could put the best DC in the world on our sidelines and he's not going to be able to make a defense that lacks depth not get tired after being on the field for way too many plays in the second half.

Agree. Can't believe any Vol is already chalking up bama as a loss.

My perception is that while CBJ may be less than perfect, he seems responsive to fair criticism and willing to adapt/evolve.

The team seems to be taking care of the classroom side of things and no players (as far as I know) are holding up pick and gos with a pellet pistol.

With all indications that we will have another recruiting class that will fill needs and improve depth as well as a bowl game to anticipate, the overall trend is pointing up.

Why in the name of hell do some of the fans want to dump this coaching staff?

This is how I feel as well. Looking back after the Arkansas game you could tell they never took their foot off the gas offensively.

This is thought process , that fires a Coach who almost averages 10 wins a season for 15 years like Richt, Butch is Our Guy and it's Time Fans start supporting him like it.

Once again, the UT offense and the alleged stupid super conservative offense did not cause the defense to be too tired to get off the field in the second half. UT's defense was the reason the dense got tired.

I've already posted stats about the Oklahoma game that dispelled it. Now for the florida game.

When UT scored a TD to go up 27-14 in the second half: time of possession in second half: UT- 13:33 UF - 6:08

UT went on a 16 play, 7 minute 26 second TD drive on their second series after UF scored to make it 20-14. How in the hell could that be considered stupid play calling? How in the hell can the offense be blamed for the defense being too tired to get off the field on UF's very next drive that was 17 plays and took 6:10?

UT's defense had more to do with the defense getting tired.

I didn't say he's for sure getting fired, or that he even has to do well. But 2017 is certainly not guaranteed.

Barring total collapse it is. Butch wouldn't be fired for even a 6 or 7 win campaign in 2016. It wouldn't happen. Not after the revolving door that's been in place at the head coach's office since 2007.

Haha. In all fairness to Jancek, we also have an incompetent defensive backs coach as well so I kinda understand not blitzing a bunch of guys and relying on our secondary in man to man. So we also need to send Martinez packing with Jancek

You gonna get burnt either way..i like my chances by sending pressure and either get a sack or mess his timing/accuracy off. Heck with letting him set up, scanning the field, counting the laces on the ball and throwing it in the bucket

That defensive call was how spurrier picked apart tn secondary 20 yrs ago.

Weak ball. Man up and go get him on 4th and half a mile

It's the Jimmy's and Joe's not the X's and O's.

Talent wins games. Look at our defense in 98 for example. Not so much John Chavis as it was Al Wilson, Raynoch Thompson, Deon Grant, Darwin Walker, Billy Ratliff, etc

Let me put it this way.... I'd rather have Sunseri back.......

Just Kidding, Obviously, but yes I would be mad.
