Lol, thought the same thing last night.
I do believe I read somewhere here, that Butch wasn't happy about this hire. Don't know if it was just speculation or not, or if it really matters. :dunno:
Would've been more secure with Blackburn or Fulmer imo. Currie won't be shy to make a change.
Coach Matthews saying that Charlie Anderson was the only search committee member that voted for Fulmer. Peyton vote for Blackburn?
I just don't know. I sure wish I did. None of it makes sense to me, and I know, I'm easily confused. The following quotes are mostly why I can't figure out about Peyton's involvement....
From Hubbs....
Some committee members weren't caught up to speed, only learned of hiring of Currie yesterday morning. Some were kept out of the loop. (Peyton?)
From Jimmy Hyams...
Tennessees AD search committee did interview John Currie, though not all members of committee were there. (Peyton?)
Fulmer got a call from a search committee member Monday morning, leading Fulmer to believe he had the job. (Peyton?)
The search committee recommended Currie to Davenport, although the vote was not unanimous. (Peyton?)
Not all members of the search committee were aware that Currie was instrumental in having Fulmer fired in 2008 and didnt know Currie and Fulmer have a strained relationship. (How could anyone not be aware? Peyton?)
According to Mathews, Charlie Anderson was the ONLY Fulmer advocate and the ONLY search committee member left out of the loop. Imho, with the way Doug said it and how many times he said it, he was making it clear that Peyton was fully behind/for Currie's hiring. The only thing he said toward the end of his segment about all of this, is that perhaps Peyton was the only one not aware of just how involved/instrumental (and nasty) Currie was, flying around the country and state of Tennessee, to secure support for Fulmer being fired in 2008.
