As a DL coach?.......I would be good with this. He has passion for UT, he knows the stakes, he knows the SEC..........tons of experience coaching at this level......I give it the doug stamp of approval

I could see it for a mid-season hire. However, if you want to keep recruits, there needs to be a permanent replacement.

yea lets hire another guy that absolutely refuses to recruit.

He will be just another guy on the coaching roster collecting a paycheck

Isn’t there a reason he isn’t on a staff anywhere? The game seems to have passed him by now. He did some great things for this school in the 90’s but I think those days for him are gone. I mean, his last 3 stops didn’t go so well. Maybe I am dead wrong.

Can't see this happening, when Fulmer was fired Chavis actively sought the job and was not even considered. Then was let go of as the DC. I don't think he would come back to serve as a lower level assistant to two other DCs.

What was Chavis' middle school record? Did he develop any freshman talent on the defensive side of the ball? I think we as VN would have to see that information before we push for this hire.

The only counter to your points is that Fulmer is there to have his back now.
