John Brice saying Doeren expected to turn down offer

Currie/Davenport/DiPietro are getting another lifeline with this rejection. If we were going to offer Gundy $7 million/year plus paying his buyout, then there is no reason whatsoever that we can't go and land a better coach than Dave Doeren.

It is all on who the "BIG" money boosters will "ALLOW"

I feel a bit bad for Dave Doeren as he unfortunately got caught in the crosshairs of this dumpster fire, but this is not the situation for him to walk into.

He's a reasonably good coach, but there's no way, no how the University of Tennessee can hire a guy who has turned a middle-of-the-pack ACC team into ... a middle-of-the-pack ACC team. Not when Tee Martin is out there. Not when Mike Leach is supposedly interested. Doeren is not a bad guy or a bad coach, but he's certainly not the guy to walk in and win over a fanbase in open revolt against the Administration. Fans would not show up to games, he wouldn't be able to recruit, and he'd be set up to fail.

Please be true. If Currie fails to hire Doeren after missing on 1-Gruden 2-Mullen 3-Schiano 4-Cutcliffe 5-Gundy and 6-Brohm what more do the people running UT need to see?

He's unfit to be our AD!!! Fire Currie!!!

More like 1- Schiano 2- Schiano 3- Schiano 4- Gundy (debatable, this was an 'image' attempt, not a real one) 5- Brohm 6- Doeren

Exactly right. Not a Schiano-type deal, but a terrible situation for him to walk into. #NOeren

What kills me right now is the catch 22 that I feel this leaves us in:

A) We hire a coach that no one here wants and everyone realizes would be mediocre AT BEST.

B) We get turned down by said coach and yet another name topples of the list.

I wanted nothing to do with Doeren here at Tennessee so I am not upset that he wont be hired what I am upset by is this AD has put is in a position where getting turned down by a 3rd or 4th rate coach is somehow a win for us???

Please let one of the trolls be right come Sunday and some freaking huge hire walks up to the podium with the brightest orange suit jacket he can find.

At this point, even though I didn't want Doeren, I'm tired of not having a coach, and tired of hearing no, so I don't even have the enthusiasm to celebrate this news. But I have to keep telling myself that it's because the administration is a circus.

Thank The Good Lord If True! Now if we continue to fight throughout the day Currie should be on the leaving train by sundown. It has been stated that if he didn't have a coach by today he would be fired. We can only hope that's true. Keep fighting the good fight all!!! :compute:

are the pickings getting slim enough that they have to call T, or Les, or Lane, or Steele?
are they just waiting til Brohm's buyout drops a million to go back to him?

i could get on board with any of this, as opposed to some of what currie has tried to shove down our throats.
