"Continue to hear, and we all know the hype is crazy, but continue to hear that Cordarrelle Patterson is just absolutely everything as advertised. Not really been stopped or even slowed in the Vols' drills thus far. He also has already logged extra time over the weekend getting some work with Justin Worley. Additionally, Greg King and Drae Bowles logged extra work together of late."

Also Hill and Lane are out of their casts and Gordon is back with team.

Good WR's can make DB's get better.

And vice versa.

If CSS gets our DB's even slowing down our WR's then our passing D could become really good and we can run more stunts to stop the running game.

VFL...GBO!!!

Not knocking Patterson, but I don't think Tennessee's secondary is a very good test.

I was thinking the same thing. But that says nothing on CP because a good WR should do that to our secondary. So I'm still optomistic about his ability thus far. His raw data looks good.

Even though I'm chomping at the bit to jump to buy into the hype, I'm still withholding my enthusiasm a little.

I will forever be gun-shy b/c of Kenny O'Neal, although I am cautiously optimistic.

CP is a real receiver. Kenny O'Neal couldn't catch a cold.

I do think about KO with some of the hype surrounding R Neal's speed (on this board anyway).

Yeah, I remember all the talk surrounding O'Neal....all I remember people saying was "O'Neal is gonna run by everybody on the field!" To which I ALWAYS responded "ok...does he CATCH the ball too?"

That wasn't sarcasm, either...it was a real question--but I still fell for it.

It's not that I have the same misgivings about CP--everything I've heard about him leads me to believe he's an all-around WR...but I'm still cautious.

As one great orator said:

"Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again..."

I sincerely hope Dools can use this year as a building block for the future of UT football with a solid 8-9 win season. He's a good man, seems to care about his players, is a good amabassador for the program, has shown he can land the coveted 5* recruit, and last but not least - he's good with the media and handles ill-intentioned questions really well. I like that in a coach. I'd love to see him build a long career here because I think with the right amount of success, he views this as a destination job. Kiffin obviously did not. I just don't know if his coaching ability is up to par with the rest of the league. I hope he can prove to all of us that it is. I hope, I hope, I hope. And in the words of the great Andy Dufrane "Hope is a good thing, and no good thing ever dies".

I think Kiffin viewed it as a destination job, just not his destination job.
