If Brantley is planning on having a breakout season, he should invest in a shake weight. Gotta show Weiss some appreciation.

it doesn't work that way (i do detect sarcasm though)

that said, i think the offense will be much improved because they can't be any worse.

in addition, despite the logic being used by most, i believe the new system fits the current roster better than the spread.

for as great a recruiter as meyer was, i don't understand what system he was recruiting some of his players for.

He was a star gazer.

im not sold on brantley, weiss or muschamp

there is still so much talent there though you could have 10 wins with a mediocre coaching job

Weiss hurt us with screen passes when we were blitzing too much in the game we played at Notre Dame. It will take awhile (IMO) to get Florida ready for a pro-style offense. As far as Brantley goes, if Eric Gordon is not out there then I ain't scared. Carl Moore is still beating him on 3rd downs.

Screens are very Lineman dependent. Florida's offensive line is such a question mark, all bets are off for Weis's offense until they've played Tennessee. Just not enough to judge against until after that game either way.

True or not....its a step in the right direction to hear that statement.....(UT used as a barometer)

Put me down for false. I'm more worried about our defense this year than I have ever been going into a season. If UF puts up 40 on us it may not be because their O is vastly improved, but just a harbinger of things to come for our D this year.

Hopefully I get proved wrong.

I wouldn't say its a barometer for the entire Weis offense, just for what might be expected for the first year. UT's defense isn't great, but there is enough talent and speed on it that a potentially bad Florida offensive line could have a long, long day. A potentially good one could score 40 though.

Does anyone on here recall on here before last season the Gator fans on here referring to Brantley being the 2nd coming of Danny Wuerffel? I do........well he sure seemed to be the 2nd coming of the N.F.L. version of Danny Wuerffel.

Sorry to hear Wuerffel has Guillain Barre Syndrome though.

If they had fewer than 10 first downs on the day, and scored 17 or fewer points points, that wouldn't tell you they sucked?

yes, it would.

looking good, however, would tell me nothing.

I agree with that. Until UT plays good defense against the heart of the schedule, there is no telling how good it is.

I've said it several times, but I think its ironic that the two traditional Beasts of the Easts have one side of the ball that's most likely going to be decent, and one side that looks terrifying. And they are opposite each other.

At 5'11 180, they aren't Pro-Set RBs. I'm sure they can catch a screen pass well but this isn't the spread, screens only account for about 5% of a Pro-Set RB's duties.

In what shape form or fashion is Florida built for anything remotely close to a Pro-Set team? You have a depth chart full of slot recievers and outside of Brissett, do you guys even have a QB that is used to taking snaps from under center????

Is Brantley even in the same conversation as Quinn and were only talking about college.I know Quinn wasnt the best but is better than Brantley ?
If Brantley puts up huge numbers,it wont be in the first 4 games.I think it will take the whole off. that much time to gel.It took Crompton 6 games to realize he could actually throw the ball.

When I mentioned the screens, I was talking about the first drive of that ND game. He got us jittery and scared to blitz and then disected a coverage he dictated. Not like it was screens all day. If his overall talent level at UF is better than at ND the results will be as well. UT is and never will be scared of anyone. But to say a fully stocked offense led by Charlie ain't gone be a problem, you'd be lying. I think he is an OC for life, just like Cut. Give them the tools (Peyton, Eli, Brady, Quinn and others), and they look good. So really we should be worried about Driskell, cuz Brantley sucks!!!!!!!

I agree. 100% There offensive line will be exposed by our defensive line, and I am actually being nice about it considering our youth on defense. To be honest I actually beleive Florida will start out 2-2 or 3-3. I also beleive we will be 4-0 to start the season. But I honestly beleive we will be at 9 wins going into the bowl game and da' rick with oustanding numbers. I know some of you dont have the faith in Prentiss W. but I also think he will be the biggest surprise of our DB's. But I do drink the Koolaid and it is a little strong at the moment. With the new smith kid at running back I can almost gurantee that we will be talked about with a triple threat at RB. I also think that Tyler is going to be a Sportcenter higlight reel all season.... Im sorry but I just cant get over the absolutley BEAUTIFUL throw to Da'rick in the N.C. Game. You have to agrre that was a BIG Time throw for a freshman. I know as of now 90% of you guys are saying to just keep on drinking but we will see whos right later on. It is hard to agree with me right now. It is just I have a very strong feeling about our season this yr.
