The guy has some solid points. Especially about the difficulty of the up coming schedule. There are 4 other teams in the SEC, (UGA, UF, Alabama, LSU) that are going to make it extremely difficult for Tennessee to climb back to the top of the league.

This just isn't your late 90's SEC where everyone was average except Tennessee and Florida. There are a lot more obstacles to success.

And I'm sorry, I know some people like the depth chart, but it is a mess right now, and next year should be a debacle on the offensive line. You can't just play young guys and JC's all over the Oline in the SEC and expect to be competitive week in and week out against top notch competition.

That stuck out to me as well....for some reason we just didnt bring in any quality depth on the o-line the past couple of years. I do think Douglas will eventually be great as well as Schofield. I think Hood will eventually be a good fit in kiffins system as well. The future quality depth at guard and center is what really concerns me.

I know i may get killed for this but i can definitely see JA's point in his article. Forget the rankings, alot of people that made our 2007 class a great class are not panning out (see Ben Martin, Kenny O'Neal, Brent Vinson). They were three 5 star guys that really drove our recruiting ranking up. I think we have enough talent to compete at a high level, but to actually win the SEC we will have to have a great year from Nick Stephens next year behind a patch work at best offensive line. If we do have a freshman QB start next year, we will not win the SEC. In 2011 we will have a reloaded Florida and a fully loaded Georgia to deal with, plus an extremely difficult schedule. I know we all look at Alabama last year and think we could be that way too, but realistically Bama had a smart senior QB and an NFL offensive line that helped them last year, not Nick Saban's recruiting in 2 years. I think our coach and staff are outstanding and i believe we are heading in the right direction, but if our exterme homer fan base would take off their orange sunglasses, we would see that this isn't going to happen over night. Go Vols

I didn't read Adams rag article and I'm not going to.

But some of you seem to be arguing that we don't have the best talent in the conference and can't have enough to win the SEC championship before 2012.

If Adams said we can't be favored over Florida and win the championship right away, then I would reply, F'ing Duh; of course not.

But the headline I saw said we won't win before 2012. I am pretty confident we will have a winning record this very year in 09, beat multiple SEC teams and improve from there on out. Fadams.

Its a long way till Febuary, I say we still land a top QB this class! That said, with a top QB and some great receivers I dont think a 10+ win season in 2010 is too far fetched!! GO VOLS!

I think both LSU and Georgia may lose a little luster in the next few years. Just a hunch.

we will be getting a QB next year and then year after that he should be contributing well. I don't see it taking 3 years to recruit well, but just to get a qb recruited and then playing

Exactly my point. Also, what is everyone thinking that UF is going to look like in 2010 and beyond?

The fact is that the SEC East will be wide open for the next few years and we will have plenty of opportunity.

The possibility of winning the SECEast, showing up and winning the SECC and going to a BCS Bowl in 2010 or especially 2011 is not out of the question.

I fully expect LSU to continue to drop off and I don't think Nutt will be able to develop and attract enough talent at Ole Miss after Coach O's classes are gone. BAMA will come to dominate the west and will be great year in and year out.

UF losing their D and Tebow will set them back. They will still recruit well and have tons of talent but the gap that exists now will not be there in 2010 and beyond.

UGA recruits well but never seems to put a complete teams of winners on the field. Bottom line, it's not completely ridiculous to see UT being a top 10 and possibly a BCS team before 2012.

A lot of people act like we are in the dark ages when it comes to talent. We are seeing lots of Fr hit the field early and next years class might be the same. We are building nice depth at many positions and 1 or 2 more classes will have us stocked with talent.

In 2011 we should have a QB who has been in the system for at least a full year or a True Fr who can't be denied. We will have a killer D, loads of WRs, one of the best backfields in the country and will have had 3 top 10 classes in a row. How is it so hard to think we can win with all that?
