the lack of depth shows how much the Fultanic decimated the programThing is, top 10 recruiting alone is not going to be enough in the SEC. Scouts had us ranked 8th in the nation for 2009, but that was still 4th in the SEC, and not including Florida, who is loaded to the gills anyway. Our best bet is superior coaching and a little luck, like Alabama and Florida on probation.
Sorry that last post was to reply to this forgot to click the boxi didn't disagree with anything in Adams' article. a lot of those players that made those classes supposedly stand out, aren't on the team anymore or were busts. we have started over with this new staff. and that's ok, there had to be some marginal assumption that was going to happen when a new staff comes in and has to bring in their players for their system, their philosophy.
I still like Kiffin's comment on sheep calls monday night...
:banghead2:lol:
just think how close we probably came to having the Fultanic back for 09....
The guy has some solid points. Especially about the difficulty of the up coming schedule. There are 4 other teams in the SEC, (UGA, UF, Alabama, LSU) that are going to make it extremely difficult for Tennessee to climb back to the top of the league.
This just isn't your late 90's SEC where everyone was average except Tennessee and Florida. There are a lot more obstacles to success.
And I'm sorry, I know some people like the depth chart, but it is a mess right now, and next year should be a debacle on the offensive line. You can't just play young guys and JC's all over the Oline in the SEC and expect to be competitive week in and week out against top notch competition.
I didn't read Adams rag article and I'm not going to.
But some of you seem to be arguing that we don't have the best talent in the conference and can't have enough to win the SEC championship before 2012.
If Adams said we can't be favored over Florida and win the championship right away, then I would reply, F'ing Duh; of course not.
But the headline I saw said we won't win before 2012. I am pretty confident we will have a winning record this very year in 09, beat multiple SEC teams and improve from there on out. Fadams.
