Joey Halzle is not the answer

the title of the original post suggested we were going to talk about the QB coach, not the QBs. In Joe Milton and Nico, Halzle had two QBs with immense natural talent. He couldn't teach either of them to put air under a long pass. Every long pass completion we had with either of them was due to yac. Nico will be a lot better at his next school; he wasn't the promised generational talent playing here.

My big question is, how is Heupel's and Halzle's relationship/trust after Nico ghosted Heupel and only communicated with Halzle the last 36-48hrs. Hopefully there is no tension between, the 2. We need everyone on the same page.

George Macyntire is still supposed to be in HS. He was the better of the two QB yesterday.
Honestly he looked about the way he was supposed to look.

Jake Merklinger be it nerves or the sudden change in environment and expectations or going against the 1st team defense - he did not "look" like the guy we recruited.
- Hesitant
- holding the ball to long
- not throwing the checkdown like he did all through HS.
(SOUNDS FAMILIAR???? JOE MILTON, NICO, now Merklinger)

He looked like Nico during Nicos second spring game. 2024 spring game True freshman Jake Merklinger looked better than Nico. And then we went on to see Nico play a whole season of average caliber football.

Here we are Spring 2025 and the George Macyntire outperformed the RS Freshman that's been getting over a year more of personal coaching from JOEY HALZLE.

I see a few differences put in by Litrell but it's not enough..We need a QB from the portal and for Heaven's sake Heupel, gracefully tell Joey to move on

O wow. A higher rated player outperformed a lower rated player?

Well, absolutely. We should fire the OC for that

You may be the only person on the planet who heard that (Nico was messaging Halzle) and had that thought.

who doesn’t?

Clearly they’ve never watched the NFL. If it’s hard to project who is going to be elite when they’re 22, it’s got to be exponentially more difficult to predict when they’re 16-18. Maybe even younger given that QBs are the first guys to commit normally

To me this is a stupid statement because even though he didn’t look amazing on Saturday it was so much worse last season. He is progressing and has a new grip and throwing mechanics. His processing and decision time is speeding up but still way too slow for SEC play at this point. He’s locking his eyes onto WR’s but so does pretty much every freshman QB. There’s only a few people that were potential 1st round NFL draft picks as freshman like Trevor Laurence. Both Joe Milton and Nico improves a lot during their time here. Not every freshman no matter if he’s a 5 ⭐️ or not will play like a heisman or a super great starter. And for those that do it often takes 3-5 years in a system.
