Joey Aguilar officially named the starter

I never insisted on ROI because in this business as a fan, you'll never get it, just bragging rights is all your paying for. I'll stick to investing in land and the stock market, that's where real ROI is at. And when I said our, it's 100% talking about every fan, we don't participate, they don't get paid, surely you understand that, right?
Again, your "we" assumes you have a coalition of fans to stop supporting the Vols.

Continue with your empty threat as you wish but your "I expect ROI" above is comical. You are free to walk off because your ROI isn't coming and few are going with you.

The only thing that gives me pause is Aguilar’s interception history. Of course, GMAC is an unknown quantity in the same respect.

Aguilar has the tools and his experience will help a great deal. He’s not afraid to let them loose and will take off on his feet when needed.

I've never said anything about telling fans to stop supporting the Vols, I just said that the athletes are at the mercy of fans, that's it. Fans can donate all they want to. My biggest gripe about all the NIL is, they shouldn't get all the scholarship perks also, one or the other. Give all that scholarship money to the ones who need it. Don't try and turn this into me not supporting them, I still do but just not by donating money to a specific Athletic Dept.

I understand what you are saying and I agree. Average fans do not like NIL. The Sprye thing is not for average fans. That much money isn’t coming from small donations. Its coming from big donors who have money, and it allows them inner access to the sports teams. It allows their ego to have something not available to average fans. The ticket price increases are what average fans pay for our “bragging rights”
Just like political campaigns, small donors could never raise the money to keep a big time campaign running. Small donors will never get close access to a political candidate.

We've been over this "the scholarship is enough" question repeatedly. The fact a school offered Joe Namath a scholarship + more money than his Dad made in a mill in PA + a new car every year in =====1960===== shows a simple truth of how markets work.

The scholarship, while very valuable, did not cover the value of Namath to a team so they offered more. Period. End of argument. You don't get to tell the market "the scholarship is valuable enough and you can't offer more."

Jeez. Give it a rest. It's now PAINFULLY obvious the scholarship is valuable but doesn't cover the value of players to schools.

Uh, this isn't 1960 anymore and furthermore maybe Joe should be thankful he got something, it's more than most people got which is a whole different conversation. All I'm saying is, I just don't support them getting both, that's it. Plus, they should value those GPA's also since they are representing a school of higher education, correct? I know they aren't or UGA wouldn't even be able to field a team. 😂

Good. Now its official. This year will be very similar to last year on the offensive side IMO. Heavy run game and short passes. The X factor will be Aguilar's legs and if he can connect on a few deep balls. With a deep threat QB we realistically should've beaten Bama and Florida by several scores and darn sure wouldn't have lost to Ar-KANSAS.

There will be tons of deep passes this year. That's JA's strength..He throws a really accurate and catchable deep ball. Yes there will be short and intermediate throws, but he's a much better deep thrower than Milton and Nico were

Fair assessment. My wife and myself are putting all our dollars into baseball. We attended three NIL events this past year. I’ve dropped my season tickets in football and basketball. Hey, there’s a waiting list after all. Having looked at a handful of NIL football deals, I can’t give $$ to the football side in good faith. The ones who are arguing against you are going to wake up one day and see The universities have sold out to corporate sponsorships where they can hold season tickets for ransom and the common fan will be out in the cold. Wait and see.

My man, you get it! 😉

The MARKET does support them getting more.

Your argument simply fails because economics doesn't care WHAT you think is fair or right and economics ALWAYS wins (unless you have some kind of legal exemption to control the market.)

Scream, holler, type all day that you think it's wrong and that's your right if you wish, but the markets aren't changing how they behave because your feelings are hurt about it.

Like I said, "I" don't like it, didn't say anything about the market or whatever mumbo jumbo you just said. Doesn't mean it's wrong , I just don't care for it. Now, do you agree that if you're receiving a scholarship from a University, you should be making the grades? It's a real easy question because if that financial dude is failing guess what, they'll lose that scholarship, part of that contract, right? Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure because I know people that have lost theirs because they couldn't keep their grades up.

Hehe. I believe the athletic business is too important to let grades matter. Whatever it takes, the athletes will stay eligible.

It's comical you think a business that paid athletes for years under the table won't take care of grade issues under the table if needed.

I didn't say that, I know they did. I have a friend that played in the early 90's at TN, I know what goes on, but that doesn't mean I support it. That's where the NCAA failed, follow the rules or be the next SMU. If they would've done that, we probably wouldn't be sitting here debating about NIL and scholarships for college athletes. 😊
