JoeVols, BPO, etc., Let's place a wager?

Because those of us that know basketball talent predicted it and expected it. That was the best team we have had in years and the best team Martin may ever have. I'll take my opinion over someone that has never seen the team practice or play and couldn't name a player, much less a team with 2 all sec 1st teamers and all sec all d team that can go 9 or 10 deep if necessary.

I expected @ 5-6 losses and sweet 16, as did others. If you expected less, that's your choice.

I knew by looking at the roster we had no depth. And when Maymon was not 100% and Hubbs hurt and then out I thought we would make the tourney but lose around 10-12. I thought we were with the bunch of teams ranked about 20-35 that could make a run or lose in the first round depending on match ups and who was hot. I knew we don't have one of the 16 most talented teams in the country but could make a run. I think that was the national consensus.

And while people here may have known what we have, the national people know what we have but compare it to what others do. That is why we were not ranked. There were a bunch of teams with as much or more talent then us. They all just didn't play up to potential.

imo, Stokes, Maymon, Mcrae, Jrich, Barton, DT, Hubbs, Moore was a deep and talented preseason team with Reese and Davis buying minutes and getting rebounds. Some really good teams and ncaa teams barely go 7 or 8 deep. Moore is a great player to have on the team and should've played many more minutes. Our losses would be fewer if he wasn't sitting so much.

Yea Moore should have played more. But out of that equation Stokes wasn't the same player which was huge. Then Hubbs was hurt then shut down which may have been even bigger. So we weren't that far apart. You thought top 16, I thought top 30 with a chance to make a run. I just know on pure talent there are a bunch of teams that were in the same boat or better. Some like UNC didn't perform up to their talent level.

I think you meant Maymon not being the same player. He didn't have his legs and had some tough games, but his ft% was up, he avg'd more rebounds/game than 2 yrs prior, fewer turnovers by 20, had more blocks and equaled his assist total. He was 3 pts less on his pt avg and shot .02% less from the field. The bunnies he missed were glaring and make it seem worse than it was for him.

Yes I meant Maymon. The gimmies he missed or couldn't dunk are what I'm talking about. Good points on the others. I think we all thought he would be better this year.

He'll find out in the next 12 months that he's on the plains. A place where they couldn't give a crap about basketball..even if you want to paint up for it. Head scratcher. Why does Auburn pay a lot for BB coaches?

Of the message boards that may have mentioned BP's hire here at Tennessee don't u think a few said the same thing when UT hired him?

not really. UT is probably second in the SEC in attendance and fan interest. As good as Florida is, they are behind UT in both those categories. I knew why Pearl came here, it was a huge step up for him at the time. He screwed up his own wet dream, that's why I don't feel sorry for him. This WAS the place Bruce could've forged a legacy. Auburn might just be rock bottom in the SEC in fan interest. If it were me, I'd have held out for something better and not just taken the first girl that came along....especially them. But I have a feeling I know why Brucie felt like he had to come back to the SEC. That's fine. I hope we beat his arse like a dog. And, if anything, I'd like to know why we underpay coaches when the dept is so seriously in the black it's not funny.

man, your last sentence X 1000

Is your answer to the bold $$$?

Not sure what your asking. I was just trying to say that I'm sure the same thing was said by some when BP took the job here.

Didn't word that right did ah?
Best I recollect, when BP was announced, most were saying, 'WHO?'

Do people really think MJ Rhett is that good? I hope he comes over to Kville but the idea that he is a big enough difference maker to save a season next year is a stretch. If everything goes right, Stokes back, Rhett, Austin is better than his recruiting ranking, it could be decent. If they don't, its going to be one of the worst teams in the SEC next year.

Next year is gonna be sub .500, don't start backtracking.

Please find the post where I guaranteed a below .500 overall record. The team is almost certainly going to be awful but don't put words in my mouth.

You said one of the worst in the SEC...the 5 worst teams in the SEC this year finished with sub .500 overall records.

So if that's not what you were saying, then what were you saying? By saying we will be one of the worst teams in conference, if not the worst, you're saying we will be below .500

No it isn't, the SEC isn't the same conference every year. We could easily finish 6-12 or 7-11 and still not be below .500 overall. Just because that happened this year, doesn't mean it will happen next year, we don't even know the OOC schedule.

I went back about 8 years and felt like that was enough, the bottom 3 teams in the SEC each of the last 8 years has finished with a sub .500 record.

So like I said, if you're saying we are gonna be one of the worst teams in the league, you're saying we will be below .500
