Having your two PG combine for 10-12 points isn't really them lighting it up.

I doubt they'll average 5-7 assists each. Usually 4-5 assists will lead the SEC in a given year. If they combine for 7 assists and 12 points they're doing an effective job as long as they're playing good defense.

Yeah "each" was probably a stretch. Tho Pressey did 7 last year and LA is a similar type pg, but likely not as a freshman.

Here we go again.

I really don't get it. You guys fuss if someone says were going to be bad and you fuss if someone says we're going to be good.

If everything falls into place with Stokes and Rhett, we should have a good chance to win a lot of games.

If we've learned anything at all about Martin teams it's that they start slow.
With all the new pieces we could see a 6-6 pre conference start and that's without even seeing the schedule.
Hell, Martin doesn't usually start coaching until January.

Not calling you one and I can't speak for Calban, but the frustrating part to me about folks throwing out such lofty expectations are, in the past, they are the first ones to criticize the team if the lofty expectations aren't being met. JMO

do you people think we don't want Stokes and Rhett? Great team potential with them. Nit or Cit without. Pretty simple.

Idk where this 7 clunkers talk is coming from, we played 5 clunkers OOC this season (since you haven't been counting tusculum), and one of this in USC-Upstate is what I would really consider a clunker.

Indeed I did expect a sweet 16 this year. I also find that when multiple national publications that cover basketball ranked us as high as 17th, that we were indeed expected to be in that range.

I also can't figure out this no bench stuff. I hear constantly about how well Moore and Thompson played this season. But then I hear the same posters saying we had nothing on the bench.

You keep saying multiple people had us ranked but have produced no rankings. Who? No poll had us ranked.

Well, we played Tusculum and they were a super clunker. If you don't want to count them, take a win off the win total for the season. If we play them next year and win 24 games besides them, I'd think that was good too.

I'd dying at you saying you wouldn't consider Upstate a clinker. They finished 19-15 and lost to Towson in the CIT.

They are the level of team Tennessee should never lose to at home.

Upstate, Citadel, UTEP, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Morehead State, and of course Tusculum are teams that would take a major major upset for us to lose. Much like losing to UTEP this year was a major upset.

We will play 6-7 of those type teams OOC next year in all likelihood.

25-6 isn't an outrageous expectation for next season.

Haha...okay. If you say so. Expectations are funny things. Seems like the 2013-14 season started out with some wild expectations too. People want to competely overlook the possible issues/shortcomings and assume the most ideal scenario possible.

Donovan has a history of being good but not great following losing a bunch of seniors and he loses 4 big minute seniors this year, including the SEC POY.
We've lost a bunch of good players every season over the past few years.

2010-11: Chandler Parsons, Vernon Macklin, Alex Tyus
2011-12: Brad Beal, Erving Walker
2012-13: Erik Murphy, Kenny Boynton, Mike Rosario

We'll be fine. We'll have a ton of talent again next season.

Ummm...even with Stokes and Rhett we're not as talented as this year's roster that barely snuck into the tourney.

A rude awakening is coming for many of you.

They'd be very close on paper before the season even begins. If certain pieces fall into place they could be better. Dont underestimate this class coming in. I think all 4 have potential to contribute something right away. How much I dont know but I have a good feeling about them.

They always recruit well, but last time they had to replace 3 key seniors, they finished 10-6 in the SEC.
This isn't true.

The last time we had to replace three key seniors, we finished 18-0 in the SEC, considering we had to replace three key seniors this season.

It's easy to see why so many fans get upset with these predictions. Even if Stokes stays and we get Rhett it will take a few games for the team to gel. The offense has run through McRae the last 2 years. Richardson played great in the tourney but I still want to see it consistently for more than 3-4 games. Rhett played at TSU, yes he will help but don't expect 11 and 9. At least one of the freshman will have to contribute and we still don't know exactly what Hubbs can do. With good coaching and stokes/Rhett on the team I think we should win 20+. Without Stokes I think we drop to 15-17. GBO

This. It seems like every year I expect Florida to fall off. But that's not the case lol. Billy D is a top 10 current coach and will always have his teams in the top 10.

You have to excuse VolArmy74. He is in the process of gathering kindling for the straw shaped man that he is trying to form for use in the coming months. Facts will only work when useful.

Yeah and he doesnt seem like Coach K, R Williams, Izzo, Self but wins just as much as they do......It is a little crazy how he gets over looked nationally.

I actually linked every one of them.

CBS, Sporting News, FoxSports, Athlon, Lindys etc all had us in the 17-22 range.

So we were not ranked by any real poll like I said. AP and Coaches are the only real ones. What thread did you link them in. Those are one sportswriters top 25 not polls.

With Florida's personnel losses, I think we should be 2nd at worst. If Kentucky's next 1st round draft class has issues, 1st isn't out of the question at all.

Right now just sneaked into the dance get hot and make the sweet 16, I would take that.:good!:

After the top 3, I doubt it is any worse than this year. jmo

Vandy will be better
SC will be better
Mizz. wont be worse
Arkansas wont be worse
and Bama has a top 25 recruiting class, so they should be better too.
