Joe Schad just reported...

Quote:
Understanding it is substance related. One game suspension proposed. Test is disputed and Rogers has blown up about one game suspension. Hart would not allow da'rick to play during appeal process and said he sits for state. They are working behind the scenes frantically with a person that is extremely volatile. Person I spoke with said better odds than not he is back if they can just calm him down.

He better calm his ass down.

All prohibition does (or ever has done) is create criminals. Without prohibition there would never have been an Al Capone, a Pablo Escobar, an MS-13 or Mexican Mafia.

And then, there would have been no 30 for 30 on The Two Escobars

And I would be sad.

Sounds good and all but Dooly sounded pretty confident that he would not be back.

And they dont overlook much. Hell we cant even get the lottery in Alabama. Shows you how damn stupid this state is. They would rather money go to TN, GA, FL and the Casino's in Mississippi. These Bible thumpers here just don't get that all the gambling that goes on in this state and instead of Ala reaping some of the Lottery and Casino benefits they let the money made in this state go to adjoining states. But let someone in Ala hit the lottery and what church wouldnt expect a contribution from it? So damn hypocritical. Ok off my Bible Belt rant.

I didnt know how to spell bassackwards correctly until I moved to Alabama. Not much better in Florida but we do have the lottery and legal gambling. Dont know how Alabama can be surrounded by that and still not force it through. Not like Birmingham couldnt use some cash.

Honestly, I don't understand the whole "it's just weed, it's no big deal and it should be legal anyway". The fact is, weed isn't legal (under most circumstances and in most states) and it's a banned substance for UT football players. Rules are rules and every player has to follow the same set of rules. If he can't go a few years without smoking then he probably has a bigger issue (addiction) that needs to be resolved. Yes, I know weed isn't addictive...blah, blah, blah. Facts are anything is addictive (porn, tv, sugar, weed, alcohol, etc...) and if you can't go a few months or even a couple of years without doing it then you have an addiction problem that needs to be resolved.

I think DR had a chance to have a very special year and leave for the NFL and make huge sums of money that he could spend on whatever substances he wanted. CDD gave him many chances, same as he did for JJ. However DR put himself and his personal needs/desires whatever above the team, and that totally sucks for the team.

I understand rules . I have no personal taste for the substance...would much rather drink beer. I do question why this is an issue that football is interested in. It does not enhance performance , people are not dropping dead from it , it not an addictive substance , simple possession is a misdmeanor ( see speeding ticket) . It just seems like a very random attempt at law enforcement by a civil institution. Isnt that what cops are for ? Do they test for alcohal consumpsion ? well , booze is legal but has alot more physical side affects. Back to my original point ...they are not interested in health or athletes but in civil law enforcement .

Taking a step back and looking at this objectively... even if it was pot, it wasn't JUST pot. What I mean by that is, I guarantee DR isn't the only Vol smoking up. That's not a knock on your team, ever football program is going to have some smokers. I'm sure my Hokies have their fair share, even excepting our idiot kicker.

The thing is, just like in life, there's a way to handle your vices. If you smoke up on your own, in private, without drawing attention to it and without letting it affect your work ethic, then no one is going to give a crap. Because you haven't given them a reason to give a crap.

Then there's the "other" set, the guys who can barely make it from the car to the 7-Eleven to buy a Slurpee, that show up at work (or practice) with bloodshot eyes and smelling like they got sprayed by a skunk. These guys are so in your face about it you can't possibly look the other way.

If CDD is seriously kicking one of his best receivers off the team eight days before the first game of the season, it's because DR forced his hand, not because of pot.

Just trust that the coaching staff and the athletics department understand the situation better than we do and made the best decision they possibly could.

As far as I know, gambling still isn't fully legal in FL. You guys do have the Native American casinos.

I blame bearcat and his devil weed!
