If Jumper didnt play we wouldnt have hardly any sacks or TFLs last year. So if he was statistically one of our best defensive players, what does that say?

I believe we're going to run some Pro style and some spread.

We're going to mix things up and keep the D as confused as we can.

Osovet brings too many really productive things to the table to be ignored.

Helton really loves to light up the scoreboard like he did at Western Kentucky.

The spread that Osovet uses is different than most you see because it's a Vertical spread that attacks downfield.

He uses lots of 1 RB with 4 WR sets and if a Safety crashes down in the box he'll throw it over the top.

Helton, Friend and Osovet have all been successful OC's so we have a wealth of O knowledge and experience and I believe when the 3 of them get settled in together watching film, learning what each of our O players can do well and putting plays together for our 1st playbook the things we may see might look like a mad scientist took many things and mixed them all together and came up with something really frightening.

If we get our O line to just gel enough to be serviceable then our O could turn out to be loads of fun to watch.

If we're going back and forth from Pro style to a vertical, attacking spread we may drive some DC's totally nuts.

I can hardly wait to see what these 3 guys come up with.

But why do you do those things to prepare? To make plays. To be able to stop the other team.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Colton. He probably did everything right, but was either lacking the instincts that a lb needs OR the physical tools to be able to carry out those assignments.

The NFL won't pay you to study film or be tough or be able to line up the defense correctly. They want you to do all those things and consistently make plays.

Your right, I should have qualified my statement by saying pay you to play in the NFL.

Jumper may make an excellent coach one day and I hope he is successful if that's what he wants to do.

I have no ill will towards Jumper at all. He was put in the game by the coaches and I think he gave it everything he had.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you but he came up huge against Florida in ‘16. Made a lot of big hits and I remember him chasing down a RB and breaking up a TD pass.

Did I cringe seeing his number out there sometimes? Yes. But that man had of a hell of a game against Florida and nothing you say or do will change that.

He’s to never having a CJ and/or Nick Reveiz starting as LB’s again. Good day.

You gave me a flashback, and I have to ask you about it...

I don't remember the year or the opponent, but I was watching a UT game on TV. UT's kicker is Carlos Reveiz, and the kick returner breaks loose for what looks like a TD. It's just him and Carlos (#92?), and he decides to just run by or over Carlos. And gets leveled. Carlos lowers his pads and absolutely plants the returner. I remember thinking "what did I just see?"

About that time, the TV announcer says "I'm guessing (kick returner) doesn't know this, but Carlos also played linebacker in high school."

Priceless. I've never forgotten it.

Both Fuad and Carlos were as solid as if they were built from granite.

Yeah, not all kickers are "98 lb weaklings". There was some posting about punters awhile back and I related my "claim to fame" in athletics, being one of those youth memories that stays with you. In 13-14 yr old baseball in South Knoxville, back around 1967 or 68, Craig Colquitt pitched for another team, the league leader, and he was dominant but with a limited repertoire of pitches: fastball, fastball, fastball. Our team was dominating the cellar and I was a runt of a LH batter playing right field. My "achievement" such as it was, came with a slow grounder between 1st and 2nd that spoiled a Colquitt no-hitter in our last at bat. He was an elite athlete.

My "claim to fame" is about a 30 yard run for a TD in Neyland Stadium back in 2016. I was untouched, and the crowd erupted so loud I'll never forget it.

Of course, it was during Spring Break while we were visiting Knoxville; and it was just me, my wife, and the guy from the UTAD who let us in to look at the stadium from field level. And the crowd was imaginary, but they were still deafening.

But I could swear I heard the echo of John Ward's voice when I crossed the goal line...

Go Vols.

There was nothing quite like listening to John Ward doing play-by-play, whether football or basketball. As a kid I got to be in Neyland for home games as a vendor - "Cold DRINKS!"

But for basketball it was mainly me and my transistor radio and John Ward's voice. It was exciting. "Bottom!"

In those days the basketball Vols were the likes of Tom Boerwinkle - one of the few 7-footers of his era - Bill Justus, Tom Hendrix and Ron Widby who was deadly with the jump shot as well as being an All-American punter.

Edit: Ron Widby was the last Vol to letter in four sports: football, basketball, baseball and golf, and was first-team All-American his senior year in both football and basketball (research courtesy of Google & Wikipedia).

He did have “A” hell of a game.... He deserves credit for that “1” game. Beyond that he was really overmatched. As many have said, it wasn’t his fault and he gave it his all. But... He was not able to play the role he was out there to do. Can you imagine how frustrating it would be to have stand on the sideline and watch it? If I were any of the LB Corp, I would have questioning why I was there.

Isn’t it amazing Indy how so many wanna pick on Colton Jumper, the guy who had that excellent game vs Florida in ‘16 and the guy who led our defense in both sacks and tackles for loss in 2017? I’m starting to believe it was a race thing, everybody picking on the white guy....buncha racists up in here imo.
