Joe Milton discussion after game 1

Yeah, that's my only concern with him. Maybe it was just first game jitters, but I'm beginning to wonder if he is our best option if he can't aim better what he showed last night.

If I were the head coach, I think I would give him another shot, but be ready to pull him early in the second quarter, if he doesn't show improvement. There's a lot to like about him, but his aim has got to be better than what we saw last night.
1st game jitters against BG ? Wait til Florida sinks their teeth in him

You can coach touch you my friend are wrong. You work on touch by teaching him to calm down. You can also work on touch with repetition. You can also work on touch by watching film and showing him when to use touch.

I don't know that I agree with this. Maybe over time, but he is not a freshman. You would think that this has already been tried by now.

Our fans overreact entirely too much without any knowledge of football. Just because you've been a fan for 20 years or coach a flag football team doesn't qualify you as a football guru. Most of you have no idea what you're talking about.

hopefully Milton will grow from this and improve, I noticed he had a challenge with accuracy on the long balls
Milton has been playing college ball for 4 years now. It would take a miracle to fix even half of the issues he's got over just the next 3 months. Chances are, this is what Tennessee has this season.

Good ole ad hominem. Everyone is stupid and their opinion is dumb because they're stupid. Except for me.

If you think that this is what a solid QB performance against one of the worst teams in FBS looks like, then I have some parcels of land on the moon that you might be interested in purchasing.

It sure seems that but how hard is it to tell your qb when a wr is 15' away don't throw it 150mph ? JG couldn't do this either

JG was throwing fast balls to uncovered RBs in the flat. I don’t expect them to be able to catch passes like that since they are wide open RBs. Milton was throwing fast balls to WRs across the middle. I expect our WRs to be able to catch fast throws and I expect throws to be fast when defenders are around and windows are smaller.

As a Milton supporter, Josh Heupel's post game interview was blunt. Milton missed open guys, missed reads, missed opportunities. Heupel knows that won't get it done in the SEC. It's simply got to get better or Milton sits. There's no sugarcoating it and none is deserved. After the first two drives, Milton regressed. It's not tolerable.

As this season goes on it's far more important to watch how Heupel handles this than how Milton performs (or if he's benched) because QBs come and go...... this coach could be here for 5 years easily. Heupel passed the first test for me by calling out Milton post game.

Pitt is a completely different animal than Bowling Green. This coach, this team, and especially Joe Milton had better get their $#!t together in the next 10 days. Film study discussions between coaches and players are going to be painful and intense.

Those who were saying "we're better than Missouri, Ole Miss, KY....." can pump the brakes hard now. We're not.

I was pretty disappointed in Milton, I watched his highlights from Michigan and he looked exactly the same last night. He’s got a rocket of an arm but that’s it, he’s not a good runner (looked scared to get hit), holds the ball wwwwaaayyyy to long and doesn’t read the defense well at all. I hope to see Hooker and Bailey sooner rather than later.

The biggest problem I have with Milton at QB is that it makes us look one dimensional as an offense. We can run and not pass the ball. He is very weak in finding open receivers and his passes are very inaccurate. He can't throw the long ball with any touch and he holds the ball just like JG. He has the arm and superior athleticism, but right now is a thrower and not a passer with no clue where the open receivers are or how to get them the ball. Unless he gets a lot better quickly I think if I were Bailey or Hendon I would keep working hard to stay ready because what I saw last night looks to me like one of them will get a chance on the field real soon. Either from bad play or injury you can't hold the ball like that and be successful in the SEC.

Judging from last nights performance and his career at Michigan -don't think Milton's got "it". In college decent to good quarterbacks A) have good touch and B) Good QB's can anticipate the break and put the ball where it needs to be -leading the receiver or throwing the receiver open. Saw none of that last night, a good D would have had at least one pick last night. College QB just cannot throw the ball on a rope every time, makes it hard to go over the top- I THINK BAILEY would THRIVE in this Offense- What say you?
PS Hope I'm wrong about Milton, would gladly eat crow- Anybody watch any of that Heuple's old team UCF last night ?-

So you think our entire offensive coaching staff is so incompetent to have a 3rd string quarterback in his redshirt freshman year that would "thrive" in the unique fast paced offensive that said offensive coaching staff created but instead plays someone not as good? I am dying to know why a guy that gets paid millions of dollars, and I assume would like to keep doing that, not agree with you?

It is what it is, obviously Milton is better than hooker or Bailey.
I really thought Bailey would have stepped up after last year but apparently has not. We got the W and now here comes Pitt. Pitt has a good Defense with a veteran QB. This will be are last real warm up before we start conference play. Next game after Pitt is a useless game .
Overall it is year one with JH and I like what I see so far. A coach that actually has a play card in his hands , a coach who is actually coaching. Haven’t seen that here in only God knows how long.
GOVOLS!!! GO BIG ORANGE!!!!

Honestly I don't give a damn about a practice Qb. You can teach practice habits. Give me a guy that shines when the lights come on. Milton has a cannon that he uses on every single throw. The ball to Hyatt that was dropped across the middle... Could have had less zip and more placement. I agree Hyatt should have made the play but the velocity made it a harder catch. I also dont care for the waving his hand around nonsense. The team Vandy fielded last season was on par with the guys we played last night from BG. Defense of line will get better, RB's are quick and elusive. OL did its job and played pretty well. Qb- indecisive, appears slow, great arm, no touch. One positive is we didn't have a lot of pre snap penalties. Give Milton some credit for that for getting lined up correctly and going

You see this what I'm talking about. How many of those incomplete passes were dropped? How many of those passes did the wr run a bad route or the wrong route? It's more to it than pulling up stats.
