Cutcliffe = good coach, but not a WOW hire. UT needs a WOW hire.

With the money it will take to get Dooley and Sal out. We are not going to get that WOW hire. Cutcliffe is a major upgrade on what we currently have. Also depending on who he brought with him. That to me is where he could make things interesting. Could he bring Chief back? I said it before and will again " 3rd and Chavis" is 100 percent better than "1st and Sal"

Why would he want to leave a good job at Duke, where the fanbase loves him to come to a place where you can't do anything right by the fanbase. Wasn't chief ran out of town? wasn't Phil fired? Unless you can be NC year after year around this crowd, your no good. We loose close ones to top 10 teams, with a shot at a win, and its no good-It was a loss!! Period. We win against a soft team and its no good!! Double standard. Unrealistic expectations, why would anybody in their right mind come here except for the big $, short term deal? Think Kiffin

We sure sound pretty snotty about who we should consider hiring for a replacement coach considering that we are currently winless in the SEC, have the worst defense in the SEC, have no legit big name coach even returning our phone calls, and have shown that our fan base is about as sensable as a woman on her period. If I were Cutcliff, I would turn us down.

David's a good coach but couldn't compete in recruiting in the SEC these days..........5-6 years ago maybe

We could do much worse than Cutcliffe. Look at the current situation. If he retained Pittman,Graham, and pulled Chief back we would be looking pretty good. Also there is a rumor in GA that Grantham and Garner are not seeing eye to eye. While I agree Cutcliffe wouldn't be that huge homerun. Cutcliffe would keep stability in the program. Not to mention he still bleeds orange.

If Dooley is fired, we would do worst than "Cut". Chief coaches 5* athletes well, but he still plays not to lose in the big games. He cost LSU the game against Alabama.

Cut, Chavis, Tee and Phil coaching the O-line. Would be awesome and I guarantee bray would be back to learn from Cut. That staff would be good, fine with me. I want this staff fired yesterday. Dooley is horrible.

The wow factor he's not but he would have TN winning a lot more than now which in turn should help bring in players I would think. I would take him over the staff now in a heartbeat.

You know at first I was saying no but the more I get to thinking about this the more I like it. Here is how I would do it. I like the idea of trying to get coaches from our own back yard. And Cutcliff is a proven HC. Dukes record this year and his years at Ole Miss proves that. So here is how i see if we were to take Cut. And I would only do it if Chief came with him.

Cutcliff: HC (Could make Off play calls if needed)
Chaney: OC (I would keep Chaney)
Hinshaw: QB
Pittman: OL
Grayham: RB
Tee Martin: WR (Head Recruiter)
T.D. Woods: TE & ST

Chief: DC
Dale Jones: LB
John Henderson: DL (just got released this year)
Chief: Brings in new DB coach
Chief: Brings in new Safety coach
GA: Al Wilson

This would cost alot of money I believe. Especially pulling chief from LSU and pulling Dale Jones from a HC job to a LB coach. Nevertheless, I think we definitely would need Dale for Recruiting as we all know Chief does not recruit well or at all. The cost would be inline with buying a big time HC IMO. And you never know how long that big money coach will stay around.

These guys I believe would stay if successful. But most others would come I believe once they new we where trying to get other former UT players to take coaching positions.....

The biggest plus is that most of these guys are already proven Coaches that have done very well on several teams. I would have no problem with this deal at all.

What say you????

I don't usually weigh in on stuff like this b/c I don't really have a good head for football, but... we've got a bunch of woes on defense and Cut is an offensive coach. Without reading Biddle's article, I gotta say I don't see how Cutcliff is the the answer to our current problems.

The only two on that list that would make much sense to me would be Tee as the WR coach and Dale Jones as LB coach. The rest of that list, no thanks.
