Joe Alleva Could Be Named as AD as Early as Today

Why?

Fans from our sites have enjoyed posting back and forth on one another's sites.

But, noted. Will control my enthusiasm.

Please do. It's one thing to come expresss your views, but quite another to basically gloat over our newest I cannot believe this damn hire, hire. I appreciate your insight, post often.

Just a sense of overwhelming relief. Definitely don't wish him on anyone. Well, I take that back. There are some hated rivals I wouldn't mind wishing him on, Tennessee not included. :good!:

Thank you for bringing an LSU fans perspective. From your comments, I may be excited if this rumor is not true.

Here at LSU he has been hiring well for the lesser sports, but opening up the pocket book way too much. He's mostly stayed out of the way of football, because he knows better.

Most of us just feel like we'd be better off without him.

Sounds perfect

Here is something he also implemented at LSU which has fans hating him more. As of this upcoming season, all parking spots on LSU campus will have a fee for football game days. Fees range from $20 to $40 and this is for first come first serve parking spots.

Ehhh...that is cheap in Knoxville.

Fulmer let it be Fulmer please! Anything but this guy!!! This is an awful pick, we're just hopping out of the frying pan and into the fire with this one.

Take it from me, a student with campus parking pass....That parking scenario on gamedays is definitely nothing new at UT.

I honestly am not very surprised by this. College athletics is all about money these days and LSU brings in a large amount of money each year. Yes, I know there are other programs that make money, but clearly this was the only sitting AD that was willing to make a lateral move.

"His first baseball coach hired was Bill Hillier who compiled a 121-214 record before being fired in 2005 amid allegations of implicitly encouraging steroid use among his players."

"In addition, the 2005 lacrosse season was canceled during the ongoing investigation even though 43 of the 47 players were not accused of any wrongdoing. Families of 38 of the 47 lacrosse players have filed a lawsuit against Duke University for multiple offenses in the handling of the case."

"In 2006, Alleva and his sons were involved in a boating accident which left Alleva with an injured head. His son, J.D., was charged with operating a boat while impaired after refusing to give a blood sample for testing. Three officers smelled alcohol on him hours after the incident"

Sounds like a slam dunk to me...I don't know about you guys.

I like to picture my athletic director in a tuxedo t-shirt that says I'm formal, but I'm here to party.

As long as no red panties were found, he's probably okay.

I am not real sure that people are being realistic about the Duke Lacrosse case.
Facts- #1 The majority of the Duke Lacrosse team had a party, including all of the team captains, at a house owned by the university, where they hired escorts to strip, while serving alcohol to teammates, some of whom where underaged. #2 Players admitted to calling the strippers "niggers" as they left. #3 1 of the players started an Email thread that suggested they invite the strippers back, kill them and wear their skin while "ejaculating"
While the last part of that was probably meant as a joke, it is fairly hard for a University with the reputation of Duke to ignore a scandal like this involving the vast majority of a sports team, regardless of the false rape allegations.
Also, the President of the University suspended the season, not the AD.
Not saying this guy is a good or bad hire, but the Duke Lacrosse team screwed themselves. If all of this became public, and there was never a rape allegation at all, what do you think the outcome would have been?

@VOLywood: Love the 'Better Off Dead' references. One of my all time favorite movies :good!:

He is not well liked here. Doesn't come across as an honest man and has a dirty history with his questionable handling of the Duke Lacrosse scandal. In many ways he became the scandal.

Opening pocketbooks is unheard of at Tennessee unless they want a coach to leave.
