Who did Mickey name as POG? Mine would have been tri-players of the Game: Nared, Russell, and Middleton.

JMU is a pretty good team, but outside of Hall and #20, they don't have anybody that should scare anyone. But the LV's had no answer for Hall. She scored from everywhere in all manner: drives to the basket, pull up jumpers, three point shots. She and her teammates missed a bunch of free throws or they darn well might have won. The LV's have no defensive stopper. And that's a problem. Jackson may become one - she did probably the best job guarding Hall.

Middleton played point most of the second half and I would be thrilled if she replaced Reynolds full time at the position. Middleton has a better instinct and makes things happen - sometimes for the worse.

Nared looked fantastic in the first half but the three quick fouls in the third quarter killed her second half.

Russell looked good. JMU played a box-and-one on her quite a bit and double teamed her of course but she was patient but strong.

Diamond...did absolutely nothing. And I'll leave it at that.

Dunbar was 1 for 6 shooting or something like that and got beat on defense a couple times. She better find her stroke quick.

Altogether some things to be optimistic about - Russell, Nared, Jackson, and Middleton look to be improved, the outside shooting was good.

But stagnation and ball movement is still a periodic problem and the defense has to get better. Maybe this team needs to zone full time.

I believe we need to improve certain areas of course. I think diamond affected the game in a lot of ways . I thought she made some good passes rebound , played defensr , but we need her to score and a lot .. I thought she passed up shots she needs to take .. They are out of shape and it was clear . I thought when we moved the ball we were affective .. We ran plays for diamond but she missed shots and was not as aggressive

I was optimistic that we were playing this good first game of the season. If we improve as the season goes along we can be a very good team by tournament time.

I think Diamond took only 3 shots in the 1st half...didn't seem to be looking to score after 1st shot of the game. She can carry a team if she's "feeling" it. Nared can do the same and could have a great season! I can't believe JMU outrebounded us! Lots of LV players standing flat footed under the rim many, many times! Middleton has Harlem Globetrotter blood in her, lol...she tries to make ridiculous passes at times...but she has apparently worked on her stroke in the off season and could be a real asset to the offense. Jackson looks vastly improved also. Mercedes absolutely must become more aggressive inside, 11 boards last night, but could have had more against that outsized team! I saw Diamond battling hard for rebounds several times, also a real threat to disrupt the opposing team's offense with deflections, steals, etc.

I agree. I think having Diamond on the floor is always good even if she's not scoring.

I would have thought with JMU losing all their best players last year, that we could work up some defensive plan such that Hall would not have gone so crazy....

But it is great that i can dream

Not only did they graduate a lot of talent, they also lost their coach (Kenny Brooks). JMU is not a good basketball team. Notre Dame, South Carolina, and Baylor would have won by 40.

Baylor only beat them by 14pts last year.

They lost one starter from last year. And added POY candidate for their conference.
