Ideally the 6-foot-2, 231-pounder would have been on campus for all of summer and all of camp to position himself to be an immediate contributor for the Vols as a freshman, but now Tennessee will have to work him into things while preparing for games every week, though college football's new redshirt rules, which allow players to play in four games at any point of a season and not lose a full season, mean the Vols can take it slowly with Peterson and perhaps unleash him later in the season.

Unleash JJ later in the season! Oh YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, he’s not on campus yet. So I’ll believe it when he is in pads at practice in school

Maybe special teams if at all. Earliest he is game ready for def will be November. He’s got a ton of work to do both in the training room and on the field. He’s recovering from a shoulder injury. Give the kid time

No offense, he is an OLB. In the 3-4 his main job is rushing the QB. Doesn't take a month of practice to learn that.

Seems kind of crappy that he can just skip all of fall camp and then just move in and play. If I were one of the current players who DID go through fall camp, I'd have something to say about that

He won’t be in shape and who says we run 3-4. ALl the time? If all he can do is rush he’s an easy target for the win so no way doesn’t he play

Or outplay him in practice...and save those jaws for nutrition?

The kid haven’t even gotten here yet and people already have him starting. It’s hilarious.
