Jimmy Hyams Sucks

On the radio the guy refuses to speculate on Dooley's job even though it's pretty much public knowledge he is gone. Then on this "Enrichment Sports Source" he refuses to talk to about it---who is this character and why is he in the media? I have strong dislike for him...

I am not a big fan of " Ole Breaking News Hyams ".
I do see his point on this issue. I hate to call him this but his job as a journalist is to report the news. I think by not giving his opinion on the Dooley situation puts him above the fray. He is not suppose to report rumors he is to report news.

I respect him more for him not willing to give his opinion vs some of the so called radio personalities hearing a rumor and running with it.

Is it public knowledge or message board speculation?

All of this makes sense, you can argue that he's taking the high road, until you factor in the fact that he's quite happy to go on the radio after the Kentucky game and say that Da'Rick Rogers needs to be kicked off the team. He spent a week doing that.

When you do something like that, you can't claim a moral high ground. What you are essentially saying is that you can call for a kid to be dismissed, because he's not in a position of authority. You don't need to kiss his ass to get info or credentials or preferential treatment. But Dooley is another story. Hyams isn't taking the high road by refusing to comment on Dooley. He's just being a spineless little toad and looking out solely for himself.

I dont believe for one minute thats its "public knowledge" that he's gone. Its public belief that the swirling rumors must have some merit. Thats a little bit different.

Flame away if you like, but I like Hyams. I've met him a couple times and he was kind and professional. I also like that he backs up what he says (on the field anyways) with stats.

I actually think not commenting is the professional thing to do when you don't know anything for sure. If he speculated like many of you are asking for and turned out wrong you would all get on his case about that too.

He is the best on the animal IMO. Josh and Will might be likable but they interject their opinion on everything and fail to back it up.

But as soon as they blow Dooley out, Hyams will run Dooley down like a cheetah on a lame goat!

Jimmy is top notch. He's not a Vol fan, so he doesn't get emotionally involved. He makes decisions based on real information and data. Sometimes I don't like his attitude, but from a professional perspective, he's about as good as it gets. His only downfall is the terrible, horrible radio station he's on.

He's a journalist and doesn't deal with a lot of hypotheticals. Not many in the broadcast business have a journalism background, hence they spout all kinds of speculative nonsense.

I am not a Jimmy Hyams fan. However, with some of you, if someone like Hyams isn't in full-sheep mode, he must be anti-Vols.

Hyams made it clear when the season began where he stood on Dooley. He said if we win 8, Dooley is safe. If the team wins 7 games, Hyams said that Dooley's future is not assured and its a roll of the dice. Hyams said 6 wins and Dooley would not be back.

He's asked every day about Dooley, and he continually has to repeat the above. Have a brain, people, and quit asking--because he's already answered.

Hyams prides himself on being impartial and objective. He won't say anything unless he is 100% sure of what he's saying. I kinda like the guy.

It's why I hate Jimmy Hyams....that and his leathery-old man appearance...can someone pay me for sucking at radio and tv?

You hate someone because they look old? Your parents must be proud that they raised such a prick. Maybe you will die early and never have to worry about aging.

I'm not his biggest fan but I would much rather hear him then most of these other sports guys in Knoxville. Ainge is by far the best. What I don't get is the personal hatred some people have for Hyams. If you don't like him don't listen.
