Does anyone here know if Jimmy Clausen is even considering UT? I know that ESPN had a report saying that he will be the most highly recruited high school player after his senior year in high school (next year). Former Cleveland Brown QB Brian Sipe stated his release is even quicker than Marino's release. 58 TD's & 6 INT's as a sophomore last year. Also, if you didn't see it, he said that he's already been contacted by Steve Spurrier (Jr?) for South Carolina & said Pete Carroll told him he had a scholarship at USC if he wants it. The funny thing was that a sophomore can't be approached by a school unless the player makes the initial contact. Also he goes to alot of the UT practices when in Knoxville. ESPN stated that USC & Notre Dame had the inside track. Just wondering if anyone else knew anything because everyone I've seen are drooling already for when he comes out. He's supposedly more highly rated than Peyton Manning was in high school.

Tennessee is on his list, and the family connections may help us. But the fact is that this kid will be one of if not the most highly-recruited players of this decade. He has expressed high interest in South Carolina, USC, Tennessee, Notre Dame and a few others. But getting Jimmy Clausen will be an all-out battle.

Maybe Jonathan Crompton should give him a call to come on down and see how competitive he is..

That reminds me of Brandon Stewart wanting to compete with the highly touted Peyton Manning. I wonder if those who backed Stewart would admit it now. By the way, what is Stewart up to these days??? They say Clausen is a hard worker (ala Manning). On the ESPN report he stated that there are other quarterbacks every bit as good as him, but that he will work harder. He seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders. One person said he attended a camp that included the top ranked QB's, some college, & even a couple of 1st year pros and that he's so good that many were intimidated. I knew there was another Clausen, but I didn't realize that he's touted so highly in only his junior year.

All of these "inside track" reports are hype. Period. This kid is a junior in high school guys. There's almost 2 full school years before he decides.

The littlest Clausen will be the highest sought-after recruit of the decade, yes. And he would be cheating himself out of the process BIG TIME by doing anything but floating names of LOTS of schools he's interested in.

Think about it... You are the most touted athelete of the decade. You can get trips and butt kissing from the biggest institutions in college sports. But you say, No. As a junior, I'll just settle on UT. Or USC. Or USC2. No. Notre Dame.

No. You ride the media blitz for all it's worth then go where you think you can develop into the best NFL package.

Jimmy may or may not go to UT, but it's a little early to start worrying about it. (PS... Clausen will not go to UT. Sorry.)

IF I had to pick a favorite, I would say Notre Dame.

That was Casey's favorite team, and they wouldnt even look at him. That made Casey pumped up when we went up there and he scored a touchdown and then pointed to the ND coach's box.

ND IS recruiting Jimmy. If I am not mistaken, he could come in and be the man up there right after Quinn leaves, so I would say that ND has the BEST shot.

We had better get him. Weve let both of his older brothers play and they shined while at UT, Rick this season and last season, and casey while he was here. Weve shown the clausens some love, i hope that sways jimmy.

However if he goes to south carolina...I'll tear my hair out!!!+

Maybe. Is Jimmy a runner or strictly a pocket QB?

Think of the last two clausens. Jarrod Lorenzen had a faster 40 time at the combines when Casey was there than Casey did. Rick is just about as slow. So I'm just going on a hunch but i'd say pocket lol

Yes, I believe he is a junior. Although all the Devine talk has gone by the wayside recently. Don't know why :dunno:

devine, rainey, and clausen. wow, thats 3 all world players right there. i think clausen has been listed with a 4.7 40 so he may be agile.

...one would think we'd have the inside track. playing rick doesn't hurt either.

Not necesarily. He's also taking into consideration where Spurrier could have South Carolina after this season and next. Does USC maintain their strength? Does Charlie Weis build an offensive juggernaut at Notre Dame? Can we compete highly enough to land Jimmy?

It's going to be a wild race to see who gets him.

I think this is why he is getting more attention than Devine... I heard it was already locked in Devine is going to FSU or somethin'.

Given his reputation as a quarterback guru, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jeff Tedford in the mix for Clausen if he stays at Cal.

I thought that you go to Oklahoma if you're a QB and don't want to play in the NFL.

OU is for QBs that can't play on the NFL level.

Tedford is for guys that get drafted high and bust in the NFL.
