FCC Chairman Brendan Carr keeps talking about ratings. It is not the job of the FCC Chairman to be concerned with the Nielsen ratings of individual shows. That's the responsibility of each network. That is so ridiculous.

Carr seems to be trying to justify the threats he made against ABC, by suggesting that it is okay to censor shows which aren't highly rated. That is even more ridiculous .... Free speech isn't conditional on performing well in the Neilsen ratings.

Brendan Carr is the biggest clown who has worked in the Trump Administration so far .... and that is quite a statement.

The decision to cancel Jimmy Kimmel Live! did come from ABC .... in response to threats made against them by the FCC Chairman, Brendan Carr. You also can't ignore the pending merger that Nexstar is seeking, and the major change in policy that Nexstar needs from Brendan Carr and the FCC for their merger to go through.

The only person on the right, who has been willing to address Carr's threats against ABC has been Sen. Ted Cruz. It is intellectually dishonest to pretend that Brendan Carr was not the driving force behind the cancellation of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

.... and once again, the timeline corroborates the fact that no affiliates had announced that they were pre-empting "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" until AFTER Carr had made his threats against ABC. The announcements from both Sinclair and Nexstar came AFTER those threats had been made. The right wing is lying, when they say that Sinclair made their decision beforehand.

We are under authoritarian rule now. We basically have state run media. You can't get a broadcast license now unless you are willing to kiss Donald Trump's ring, while on your way to kissing his butt.

Ikr, if anything I feel Vance is maybe more palatable than Trump, he may not ‘fill an arena’ but I think people will be more likely to vote for him.. he has an ability to be somewhat more diplomatic when needed, and has a likable wife (not that that is what gets you elected, but a horrible one will make people hesitate 😂) I mean, I like Melania, but in the case of the Obamas and Clinton, the ladies also seemed to think they got elected lol)

Nexstar's spokesperson said Carr’s comments had no effect. The discussion by the affiliates to pre-empt (my assumption) preceded Carr's statements on the podcast.
ABC's public decision came afterwards.

I suspect that's why trump got elected while winning the popular vote.

I'm not sure the Democrats will take the presidency or any control in Congress again in my lifetime. They've been unmasked and have lost any platform with anyone but their fringe.

Between redistricting, illegals being removed, the new census, and the Dems hemorrhaging voters, I suspect a bloodbath in both the midterms and the presidential election. And with the Dems tripling-down on saying stupid **** after/about CK, I suspect they're only making it worse by multiples.

As far as the affiliates are concerned, neither Nexstar or Sinclair had announced that they would be pre-empting "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" until AFTER Carr's threats had been made. The right wing has been trying to claim that Sinclair made their announcement beforehand but that isn't true.

The accurate timeline makes it very clear that Carr's threats could have been the driving force behind everything, and because of Nexstar's pending merger, which will require a major policy change from the FCC, those threats carried significant weight.

Sinclair had a press release announcing they’re preempting JK prior to Carrs comments.
