Jimmie Kimmel Show gone !

Now that we have moved away from the idea Carr/FCC got Kimmel fired (or suspended), I'd like to discuss Carr's comments more if yall are willing.

Carr responded to mishearing Kimmel (as @BowlBrother85 has shown) just like I misheard him. When a government official speaks extemporaneously, like Carr did on the podcast, does that represent official government position or policy? An example from the other side is Obama's exchange with Putin "This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility."

When does the statement become official policy and when is it the person speaking for themselves?

There is already laws that provide remedy at scale to this issue if it happen(s). These programs were used for discrimination and to bully people into their lifestyles, imo. What all these programs were doing were trying to push acceptance for people's mental illness and to use as a discrimination excuse.
DEI has nothing to do with mental illness

What this all boils down to is another unforced error by the Trump administration. Instead of opening their mouths (FCC chair and Trump) they should have just let the free market work itself out and then celebrated that and blasted the message of Americans are tired of the one sided media. They had to know what was already happening with ABC and it's two biggest syndicators prior to the FCC chair making his comments.

Interesting what happens when the USAID money dries up. It was keeping the lights on at houses that needed to be boarded up.

There was a time when Presidents weren't so thin-skinned when being made the butt of jokes.

George W. Bush took an awful lot of crap from the left. No movie has ever targeted an American President for ridicule more than Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" did to George W. in 2004. On top of that, you also had the lesser seen Oliver Stone film, "W." which starred Josh Brolin. It skewered Bush in every way possible. However, George W. Bush pretty much ignored it all.

Can you imagine how Trump would react to movies like those being made about him?
Trump is a hypersensitive, thin skinned BETA.

Disney/ABC will reach a lucrative financial settlement with Kimmel, that will require him to sign an NDA and an agreement to not be critical of them.

Disney/ABC will want this story to die quickly. There is quite a bit of outrage coming from the entertainment industry over this controversy amid the perception that they caved in to a threat from the Trump administration. Disney can't be tone deaf to that.

Jimmy is gonna get paid. 💰
Jimmy's not going to starve. At the very least he'll get paid for the rest of his contract

I know I lean right but I want to be fair. I'd like to add the following video to our discussion. To spare you from the host's egotistical self promotion of his books and everything, go to the 5:00 mark. There he explains his inside scoop on why this happened. Then I want you to go to the 16:00 mark and see an opposing point of view. So both of our views are given fair airtime here

So here's where I'm coming from: You and Lawgator are not completely wrong. I understand your problems with the FCC's remarks. Where I differ with you is where you say it's a "layup" slam dunk case. No, there's enough other factors that I feel the FCC is safe here. If by chance it went to court on 1st Amendment grounds, it could ultimately be appealed to the Supreme Court and Trump would prevail.

I don't think ABC has any liability here so I doubt they'd make Kimmel sign anything. They've got plenty of reasons to end his show

Getting a job because of DEI doesn't mean a person wasn't qualified for the job. More often than not before DEI, more qualified people of color were being passed over for less qualified white candidates. It's a fact that was happening.
And conversely, getting a job because of DEI doesn’t mean a person IS qualified either.
If the NFL or NBA started mandating that teams had to hire more white players, would you feel comfortable that your team was getting the best players?
Hiring should be based ENTIRELY on ability and qualifications, PERIOD. Race shouldn’t even be in the conversation.
Ideally, an employer shouldn’t even know the race of the candidate. That can and does happen in my field of IT now since so many jobs are filled remotely via phone call

Whatever happened to Biden’s “ministry of truth”?

He was only labeling speech as “disinformation” and “misinformation” and instructing SM to silence anyone that had a different opinion.

But enough about whataboutism.

Trump should have kept his mouth shut.
Just thinking it is one of the reasons he's unfit for the job

He was obviously right about the ones he mentioned. They were all affirmative action/dei beneficiaries. If they had been capable they would’ve been picked solely on merit.
No way is that true. Michelle Obama was a dei hire? Black women don't have brain processing ability? Black pilots comments.

I am all for meritocracy.

Be nice if our President practiced what he preached about it.

1) since when does parental polical alignment determine that of the child? Are you REALLY going with that? REALLY???
2) Kirk didn’t say that and you know it. He wasn’t talking about black women as a group. He was talking about a handful of black women who are in fact, demonstrable idiots.
3) I am unaware of the exact Kilmeade quote referenced. I will research it before venturing to opine about a matter with which I have no knowledge.
Charlie kirk said black women lacked brain processing ability. He said he would worry that a black pilot was capable. Maybe he never heard of the Tuskegee airmen. He was 100,,% racist. But I think you knew that already.

What lie did Jimmy Kimmel tell?
That the right was trying to spin it because the perp was one of their own. Blatant lie. One's early home life, and how has chosen to live are not always the same. His parents and upbringing may have been conservative. He was the polar opposite and lived with a trans male, and was filled with the hate the left establishment have been forcing into the minds of our youth.

I've tried to find the connection between your post and the discussion. Can't find it.

Can you elaborate?

All blatant lies and totally out of context. You have the disease. But, that has already been proven here over quite a few pages, and I think you already knew that.

Here's another inside story for why ABC abruptly took Kimmel off the air. Kimmel was about to double down on his hate for Trump thus ABC had no choice but to shut him down:

According to CNN, which spoke to an unnamed source familiar with the situation, Kimmel was preparing to deliver a monologue on Wednesday evening addressing the backlash he had received for another monologue that week about the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The Wednesday monologue was described by CNN’s source as “very hot,” and would have reportedly targeted President Donald Trump’s MAGA base.

“If Jimmy went on the air, there would have been no way back from that monologue for Jimmy,” the source said. “We didn’t want that. Everyone deeply values him and wants him to come back. But he has to take down the temperature.”

After publishing the source’s quote on Thursday, CNN stealth-edited its article, removing the first half.

Here's the bottom line:

The decision to suspend Kimmel’s show was reportedly made by Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Entertainment Co-Chair Dana Walden “in hopes of protecting Kimmel and the Disney brand from accelerating the controversy.”

That has nothing to do with the FCC. This had to do with Kimmel's attitude and Disney didn't want the headache.

I believe Kirk was speaking about very specific women.
If Kilmeade's employer feels he deserves to be fired, then he should. I'm guessing they told him to apologize similar to Kimmel with the difference being that he did instead of saying no.
By your standard Kimmel never said Kirk was maga.

I and most would agree he was speaking of all black⁰ women. How does a college dropout qualify to doubt the abilities of college graduates? You believe Barack Obama dei hired Michelle? How about his comment on black female customer service agents?

There was also a time when the humor directed at presidents was light hearted and tongue in cheek. Especially late night. At one time it wasn't political at all.

You'd agree that the left increased the frequency and vitriol of that humor to the point it became less about being funny to a broad audience and more about appealing to a partisan niche.

That's what I thought to. But BB85 did a good job detailing how it was a poorly constructed statement leading to easy misinterpretation.

(don't tell BB85 I said he did a good job though)
