Brendan Carr did much more than "make a comment." He made a threat to ABC, which included an ultimatum concerning "Kimmel." That is a freedom of speech infringement. It's fine for Carr to express opinions. It is not fine for him to make coercive threats to broadcasters, in his capacity as FCC Chairman.

None of this has anything to do with the Equal Time Rule, which requires broadcasters to treat political candidates equally in terms of air time. I have even posted a link for you to what the Equal Time provision is .... and yet, you stubbornly and ignorantly continue to insist that it is somehow relevant to this matter. It isn't.

Not a Kimmel fan. All the late-night talk shows have become too political for my tastes. They used to be about being funny, but now, they're all about pushing the political views of the host. That said, though I disagree with what they say, they do have a right to say it. Whether or not a show gets cancelled should be based on ratings and whether or not they are profitable.

The king of late night purposefully kept his shows free of politics..... And it was king. People want one of two things::

1) freedom from political crap

2) political crap that confirms your bias

The first brings everyone together, the second rules out half and divides people. We're allowing too many of the later and not enough of the former in our entertainment spaces.

It's fine to be critical of Kimmel as a comedian, but his show ran on a major network from January 26, 2003 until this week. A 22 year run for a late night talk show on one of the 3 major networks isn't failing by any standard.

Such a remark is so ridiculous that it instantly reveals a partisan bias on the part of the person who is saying it.

Chevy Chase failed as a late night talk show host. Dennis Miller failed as a late night talk show host. Pat Sajak failed as a late night talk show host. Joan Rivers failed as a late night talk show host. Jimmy Kimmel did just fine.

The Federalist used the word "Failed" to describe Jimmy Kimmel because that was how Donald Trump described him on Truth Social, and just like everyone else on the right, they have to mimic Donald Trump.

Whenever describing someone he doesn't like, Trump will always use "failed" or "failing." He also likes to throw around "low-rated" or "ratings challenged," and of course "disaster" and "terrible."

Trump has a limited vocabulary and his minions have to be just like him.

I gave you an example of the last administration doing exactly what you are decrying of this administration. Using it's power to silence those they disagree with. I asked which was worse. You stay fixated on an argument I never made.

I'm not bound to stay within any "lanes" you create to try and keep your partisan argument on the rails. I can point out hypocrisy as I see fit.
