Jimmie Kimmel Show gone !

You don’t have a case unless ABC files it. I don’t think they will as I think they’re glad to be rid of Kimmel. Do you think ABC will file such a layup suit? I do not

Kimmel should. Not ABC.

As to the networks more broadly speaking, my assumption is that his team is telling him that he cant yank licenses over content. And his comments doom him even if he tried.

So, the only conclusion is that he made the comments knowing that he has no intention of following through. Its just more red meat for the base. More bluster. More lying.

In other words, standard Trump.

Circumstantial evidence is still evidence. Here are facts we know:

1.) Kimmel made his comments on Monday
2.) Tuesday his show went on no problem
3.) Wednesday late afternoon head of FCC makes threats
4.) The single largest owner of local television stations, Nextstar, is awaiting a several billion dollar approval on a merger that would require not just FCC approval but a major change in FCC policy. They inform ABC they are pulling the show.

It doesn't take much to have a pretty good guess as to what is going on here
Exactly. ^^^^ That sums up the timeline quite nicely, and says it better than I have, and shorter. ^^^^

.... and I think we can all agree that @volfanhill is not a liberal. I don't think he likes me at all, but he is a fair poster.

Anecdotal evidence is also evidence. But we don't give it much weight.

The jump to conclusion aka "pretty good guess" cannot be considered as fact.

You can tell an anecdote, but that doesn't automatically mean that it happened, unless you can provide documentation that it did. In that case, however, it's your source of documentation that becomes the evidence, not your telling of the story itself.

All 4 of @volfanhill 's points are verifiably true.

And circumstanstatial, by his own admission.

You forgot that Nexstar wasn’t the first station owner to pull the show, it was Sinclair who has nothing in front of the FCC for consideration.

That's true. Sinclair also has a long history of being biatch slapped by the FCC

Well $50 million since 2020
By comparison Nextstar has had $1.8 million in that time period and nexstar is bigger

And yes
Pfft.

Here's my circumstantial case.
Unlikeable host with weak ratings. Affiliates take advantage of host stupidity and political cover fire to force ABC's hand. Don't carry program and show something else. Host fired.

ABC won’t file a lawsuit, they don’t have a case. Kimmel is the one who should file suit.
ABC is who fired him. It wasn’t the FCC. Such a case would get thrown out before it started on the basis that Kimmel lacks the grounds to file it.

He’s on his ass right now because of what he said. That’s not on the FCC
