I get that but I was talking more about the climate towards immigration. We've had a flood of immigrants we can't employ, can't house, can't support without further burdening taxpayers.The climate which led to Reagan’s election was very downtrodden, oil crisis, hyperinflation, crack epidemic, terrible violence in cities, etc. Circumstances should not be an excuse for moral ambiguity.
Surely you can see the difference, we had low paying jobs available, we had housing available. All those things are absent right now. Yes, the message a president sends is going to sound different then vs now.
And for the record I'm not defending Trump, I think he awful. Talking more about Reagan's comments and how'd they be received by the American people then vs now.
