Jimbo and the NIL

Golly gee, we just identified and told them they would have a chance to compete for championships. We have no say in NIL or how all that works. Guess we just got lucky.

EtowahVol...goog job. I would only add Coach Pruitt and the fact he worked for Saban, Fisher and Smart. I suspect he learned his recruiting techniques somewhere. I am proud of Dondie Plowman and her refusal to try and coverup Pruitt's behavior.
Hey,
Don't fool yourself now...
Had that asshat actually knew how to coach and led us to 9-10 wins or more, she would have absolutely looked the other way.

He just sucked...

Yep. He has the spiel of a used car salesman. When I hear him talk, I instinctively put my hand on my wallet.

and big Aggie boosters put their hand in their wallet.
They talk, somehow they talk

Good ole fast talking Jimbo just spent 15 minutes trying to convince Finebaum that coaches have absolutely no say in the NIL situation. Totally outside their control. If anybody believes that, I got a couple of bridges I’d like to talk to you about. Of course he’s trying to defend himself on all the stories of the Aggie NIL budget and what they spent on this recruiting class. And of course, he was playing down the whole situation. Wink, wink.
Jimbo better win big soon. A lot of money was spent to buy him a championship At A&M. I’m betting this blows up in their face.

And then we go and hire his only assistant that was apparently not smart enough to learn from the master.

Oh he Lear’s the “recruiting tactics”…he was just too dumb to win. Amd when you bring that heat on yourself (violations) you been have the wins. If not you’re gone…and “for cause”.

NIL will be the ruination of college football if something isn't done to have some sort of control of it. Maybe tie the amount a student athlete gets for NIL to their scholarship. If they make a certain amount, they have to pay a portion of their scholarship back to the university. They are getting their education paid for so after a certain level of money, they have to reimburse the school some money. Make it a percentage so it's fair to everyone getting paid, and let's face it, the schools like A&M with the big money boosters will be making sure all the guys are getting NIL money. Maybe even fund a scholarship with the money paid back to the university. Just some random thoughts on the whole rotten thing.

Imagine your selling point is a guaranteed 8-4
He is a guaranteed 2+loss per season HC. This class will be portal bound for a playoff contender anyway after a season or 2. Kind of reminds me of a song with a few Texas references…

Hoo-hoo-hoo, billy Mack is a detective down in Texas
You know he knows just exactly what the facts is
He ain't gonna let those two escape justice
He makes his livin' off of the people's taxes
Bobbie Sue, whoa, whoa, she slipped away
Billy Joe caught up to her the very next day
They got the money, hey, you know they got away
They headed down south and they're still running today
Singin' go on take the money and run

To me, it seems to get uglier and uglier every day. I see no end to it. The problem with it to me is that you simply cannot tell a person that they cannot do something and earn money. Advertise cars, advertise chicken, sign a jersey or a picture - you just can't. The market defines what people are willing to pay for something, and the highest bidder wins. We all know that coaches are brokering these deals, whether they admit to it or not. At some point the dam will have to break and some rules around this fiasco will have to be applied. When that is or what they are can't come soon enough for me.

Pruitt was probably only taught part of the technique, his job was to be the fall guy if anything came down on the Gumps. Saban had all the bases covered. That's why he needed Botch when Pruitt left, to be the patsy. Who knows who it is now.

That’s certainly ridiculous. The only reason they got the kid from Powell is because they would give the NIL in bulk up front and we wouldn’t. No way coaches have no input on that.

Yep. Like I said earlier, if the coaches don’t direct it, how do the money men know who to give to and how much? Somebody has to ultimately make the call.
