Saying he's behind Summitt and Fulmer when it comes to our athletics.. Is it true? If Bruce takes this program to a Final Four soon or wins a championship, does that still make our men's basketball program third on the list? When I've attended games this year people tend to show up in better numbers and are more active at the men's games lately. And I havn't witnessed anything lately that merits Haystack's operation as an elite program.. Bruce has a great chance to take this program to an elite status in 5-10 years. I think men's basketball could eventually be number one on our list if Haystack continues to spiral. Thoughts?

I think you are living a pipedream if you ever think any other sport besides football will be number 1 on the Hill...

I think he'll do it quicker than that. He said it when he came here - few programs have an arena as big and loud as Thompson-Boling, and with the renovations and the new practice facility, the program is rapidly moving up.

Don't know if hoops will surpass football, but Florida's basketball program is doing just fine as the second-place sport.

I'm more impressed by Pearl as a coach then Fulmer. I don't usually follow women's BB, like many people, even though Summitt obviously is a great coach.

Pearl has only been here 2 years...let him win some kind of championship before we start annointing him around here...

Even if the program hits a wall at this point and stays at this level, Pearl deserves props for turning a stale program into one that has some national attention.

Rome is a :censored: idiot. When you are blowing attendance records out of the water, bringing back old family (BK,PM), having the fans treat you as a God, and prepping himself for another huge bonus his second year in, then Rome is stretching and putting an unfair light on our prograam and whats happening here. ESPN strikes again. Hey Rome :shaking2:. He's OUR coach, baby. Now go tell Florida that Donovan is on hind tit behind Meyer. See if you can screw them up.

Tru but to say he is better than Fulmer no matter what Fulmer has done lately is ludacris...

At this stage of Fulmer's career and Pearl's, Pearl is definitely better. No way does Fulmer take a program finishing last in the SEC to first in 1 season.

I have got to believe if you ask most rational VOL fans they would come up with the same list as Rome's...

It's not even fair to be discussing this in all honesty, Pearl has obviosuly done wonderful things for the program but to compare him to Summit and Fulmer is VERY premature...

I don't know about that. What Pearl did prior to coming to UT wasn't too shabby. Pearl appears to be on the way up while Fulmer has, at best, leveled off.

Since when is winning the SEC east regular season title considered being SEC champions?

How many SEC championships did Fulmer win in his first two years? That's what should be compared, if you're going to be comparing anything at all between the two.

Im tired of football doing less with more, and Im really excited about BBball doing more with less, and looking to do more with more in the future. I think as fans all we want (or all I want) is to see effort. Why should football remain at the top of the pecking order, when they don't always play with effort? Granted perception of effort is directly proportional to expectations.

You would also have to factor in where the programs were at prior to Fulmer and Pearl taking over.

I think if you take into account the first two years of coaching on the Hill, Pearl is right in there.....

Well if you look at the situation logically, Two of the coaches have been here for 15+ years and have national championships and streets named after them. The other has been here 2 years and does not have either a national championship or a street named after him.

To put the 3rd coach above either one of the first two would asinine, ignorant, and just plain stupid.

What pecking order are you people talking about? Salary? Popularity with the fans? Respect from the administration? I don't get the dichotomy, and I don't understand why it's relevant. Why are our programs competing with one another, when there are obvious synergies available from having equally well-respected basketball and football programs?

DING DING. Pearl doesn't care about that crap, otherwise he wouldn't have taken such an interest in our players and fans. The only person that this type of perception matters to is CBP himself, and from what I see, he could care less.
