I am seeing thread on TOS that are posted by fans clamoring for the Niners LB coach and former USF coach. I am curious how you guys would feel about Leavitt for DC?

Out of all the available candidates...I think that Leavitt would be a great hire.

Just gotta make sure he doesn't start throwing down in the locker room

If there was a DC hire who could be used as a HC replacement, it's Jim Leavitt. I wouldn't mind this hire at all.

Leavitt has a better HC record than Shannon and IMO he is the superior recruiter. He was able to bring in some serious talent at USF. He would be an incredible get for FL recruiting

Harbaugh gave him a chance with the Niners. I am sure we could raise his pay a great deal and he is familiar with building programs.

I forgot about him, I wanted him as possible HC when dools was hired. Would be a great option imho!!

DD did say in his original press conference that some NFL teams were still playing. With our luck however, he probably has not even been considered.

This is a DC wish....again not sure how reasonable it would be. This would be a great surprise, but it seems the front runner is still Sunseri until he inevitably declines the offer.

If he could end up with Weis, then I think we need to give this a shot. He would be a better candidate than Sunseri IMO.

If he is looking to return to the college ranks, then we need to seriously consider this guy. He would be a major pickup

Leavitt would be a good hire. Maybe he could bring some cahonies to the lockerroom! We need a guy who isn't afraid to put a boot in somebodys butt. That's why I wish Al Wilson would come back as a Grad Asst. It would be really funny to watch Da'Rick cuss him out.

This just in:
Leavitt was seen standing outside Neyland Stadium staring at the Philip Fulmer Way street sign...TIFWIW

Seriously...why do we do this to ourselves...we're getting our hopes up when this search has nothing to do with our suggestions...

I know, I know...I'm bored too.

He is an amazing recruiter, and I know Sunseri is as well, but it is much more difficult to recruit to a program like USF that would have been building at that time. Anyone can recruit to a national championship team with rich tradition.

Leavitt is not only a proven DC, but he was a proven HC as well. Completely put USF on a national level. He's a tough, hard-nosed type of a coach we could use on this staff, and a proven defensive mind. Not to mention, produced some good defensive prospects into the NFL. Would be an excellent hire.

Another NFL guy that has had SEC DC experience would be Teryl Austin. He is currently the DB coach for the Ravens. I do not know how well he can recruit however.
