With an NFL offensive line, a pro qb, two nfl receivers, and I believe Neal and Lane spent some time on a nfl roster, having the 22nd ranked offense isnt exactly great.

2nd best passing offense in the SEC and 4th best scoring. If we had an average defense we would have cruised to an East title and would have challenged Bama foe the SECC.

What has happened to Jim Chaney? He is considered one of the best minds in college football, yet we have shown no pizzaz and not much effort. How about becoming less predictable - if I can guess the play from the formation 50% of the time, other D coaches can get it 80% . Why not let this Hyatt kid play more? He doesnt need to know the offense that well to run a post or fly pattern . Even if he misses a few, his speed will scare the defense and stretch the field opening up the shorter routes . Where has he been all year and what are we saving him for-Vandy? How about some reverses and double passes? Liven it up - u get paid a lot of bucks-get creative. This whole team , offense and defense is worse than last year. No way we should get blown out like the last 3 games,

It is puzzling and frustrating . I just dont get it...

Weed is for sissies. Never touched it. Stats too much for you?
My bad...I just figured someone had to be high to think we were even in the same league with bama in 2012. We put up something like 14 points on bama that year. I might remind you that the vast majority of those stats came against troy, missouri, ga state and Akron.

You can only play the teams on your schedule. With s good defense, we would have had a shot.

Chaney is good at what he does, usually. But his style is a bit outdated. And for his system to work, he HAS to have a good QB and a good running game. Otherwise, it becomes easy to stop and us to stay vanilla.

Chaney is the Offensive version of Chavis to me. A great coach when he has great talent and was an elite coach at one point, but tends to choke in big moments and has had the game pass him by somewhat. I mean, UT could certainly do worse.
Don"t you remember- How can you fly like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkey's!!

Any mediocre coach can win with exceptional talent. They do that every week. But it takes a great coach to take raw and unproven players and make them better and win some games. Remember the Janet Jackson song, "What have you done for me lately"? This is what we need to be asking of Chaney. Past glories are just that -- past. We need improvement now.

Nothings gonna change when u have a QB staring at the sidelines until the snap looking for instructions on what to do.

Not impressed with Chaney at all. I don't like his run blocking schemes that well. Ever notice the RB getting tackled at the line by the DE we slanted away from and left unblocked ? It's not a missed assignment we just don't block him. Why does our RB only get to go 1 yard over the line and sit as a pass outlet instead of wheeling out and getting a little down field. He goes and stops past the line and the LB just comes and sits on top of him. Doesn't care if he catches it for a one yard gain.

Zone blocking is used by a lot of teams and actually works well when done well. Stretch everything and create lanes the RB exploits. Now, if you have a stud DE he can catch the RB and that is a risk. RB makes bad decision... a risk. You can mitigate the DE with a successful QB keep forcing him to read and react vs. charging down the line.

Not to bang on JG again but he's not a huge running/passing threat so defenses don't pay him much attention.

Chaney has a nightmare of a quarterback. He doesn't know when JG breaks the huddle who the help will take the snap,Jeckyl or Hyde. How can you open it up when he is the most knowledgeable of the qb's.

It might be Chaney.

Look at LSU this season.

Look at Clemson today.

It might not be Chaney.

Just looked. Chaney's offense in 2012 was ranked 22nd in the nation. Unfortunately, our defense was horrible that season.
