To let JP go after only two seasons, regardless of record, is not a good look for UT and the fan base considering the last coaching search debacle. UT would lose all credibility with sport media. If there is anything good one can say about UT is that it's fan base is by far one of the best in the nation and often times supportive in times when other fan bases would have fold.

Pruitt is gonna get fired after we lose to BYU 73-3. Then we will hire Chuck Norris as our new head coach. Teams on our schedule will forfeit the rest of the games because they will be too scared to play us. We will go 10-2 and play for the SEC championship against Bama. Saban will beg for his life on national television and.......

I really don't know where I'm going with this...... I'm just tired of sucking and getting made fun of at work for losing to Georgia state.
Maybe that’s not the reason? 😏

Umm why would it be a bad look?

To me it looks worse to accept losing.

Pittman probably could have come when Chaney did but likes his gig at UGA.

I think we should let it play just a little longer before writing the severance checks.
Agreed, at this point stability seems more important than anything else. If we go 4 years with a couple bowls and but a stocked shelf full of talent we will be in a better position than we have been for 10 years.

I guess we should have kept Butch, at least we would have probably beat GA State.

I agree. If Pruitt and Co can't turn this around and win at least 5 games, get a new HC and move forward. UT doesn't need another 4 seasons of mediocrity putting UT further behind the eight ball when it comes to competing and recruiting against UF, UGA, and Bama!!! I am tired of the excuse we don't have the players. The roster shows by numbers and stats that UT is more talented than all teams outside of AU, UA, UGA, LSU, and maybe TAMU. UF is probably close to a push talent wise. Even, if the stats are wrong. UT has to be more talented than MSU, MIZZ (now that Drew Lock is gone), USC, and VU. Yet, UT will probably go 2-2 vs those 4 teams. Unless, a miraculous change (QB, OL, and DL play is night and day different) takes place before mid October! If JG looks like the same QB he has been outside of the AU game (ONE GAME) vs BYU, Pruitt/Chaney needs to put Maurer or Shrout in the game. The same 5 need to play OL to create continuity. The DL must learn the schematics to enable Pruitt/Ansley to call a more difficult D to go against as well.

I will put myself out on a limb and say I think Pruitt and Co will turn it around and win 7 games. Call me crazy all you want. I would rather be optimistic/crazy and be wrong than be negative/in the dumps and be right. Can we get a glimmer of hope this thing will ever turn around soon???

Pruitt is not getting fired during or after his second season without something off the field.

How many people are gonna ask this dumb question

This line of thinking is exactly why TN is the laughing stock of college football and why TENNESSEE is now LOOKING up to Vanderbilt in Football. This is not about being negative or supporting the team. This is about TENNESSEE FOOTBALL. We got whipped, absolutely whipped by GA St on our home field!!! Pruitt is NOT the coach who will restore TN among college football elites. Certainly, big mistakes in the head coaching hires have been made since Fulmer left but to think Pruitt just needs more time is ridiculous, absurd and completely illogical. There WAS NO REASON to lose to GA St unless your coach is inept as a head coach.

Take a few minutes to read the coacheshotseat comments on Pruitt. With the resources Pruitt has at his fingertips there is no way, if he were a solid head coach, he would be listed as #1 of the coaches on their hot seat after week 1 against GA St @neyland, NO WAY!!!

..."A recruiting expert buddy of ours tells us that Georgia State does not even have 10% of the talent on the Tennessee roster and yet…

Tennessee Got Its Ass Physically Whipped By Georgia State on Saturday and for that Jeremy Pruitt and the man that hired him Phillip Fulmer should be ashamed…deeply ashamed…that they have taken one Dime of compensation over the last 634 days because neither man has earned one Damn Dime of that money….and that is also self-evident to anyone with 2+ IQ!

This Is Very Damn Simple: Former Tennessee AD John Currie before he was couped out of his job by a group of Damn Morons in Knoxville, Tennessee had offered the Vols head coaching job to Mike Leach and Leach has accepted that job in our opinion and with Currie out of the way it was left to new AD Phil Fulmer to hire the next head coach and who did Fulmer hire?
Jeremy Pruitt

And what is Jeremy Pruitt’s record now with 634 days on the job at Tennessee?
5 – 8

Oh…Pruitt has been paid over those 634 days almost…wait for it….

You know I can’t understand it we stock the pantry with plenty of crap and yet all the chefs hire can’t make a meal that doesn’t taste like crap? Makes no sense to me.

This team is short on a lot of things that go into making a quality team: talent, leadership, development, depth, a culture of accountability. Those things don’t happen over night. And hell yes we still should beat Georgia State so maybe you can add coaching to that list but I fail to see how Pruitt and Chaney could suddenly become so clueless at coaching their sides of the ball.

Seriously are you nuts or oblivious to how bad Pruitt looks right now?? 2-10 this year he won’t be given a 3rd year!! Anything short of 4 wins I’ll be shocked if Fulmer pulls the plug....

I agree but this is hypothetical. If chaney is headcoach could he convince Pittman to come. They've been together everywhere else
Pittman has said many times that he absolutely loves Athens and plans on retiring there. I understand that the thinking was that if Chaney came he would bring Pittman with him, but there was never a chance of that actually happening. Plus UGA ain’t letting him go anywhere, have you seen their offensive line recruiting since he got there, and he hasn’t let up yet. There is a better chance that Gruden is the next head coach than Pittman showing up in Knoxville.

I don't think the coaches we had under butch were good at anything, the guys under Pruitt have a lot of experience in the SEC and are also good at recruiting even if Pruitt is bad/unknown.

We aren’t dropping 12+ million on top of Butch’s buyout to can Pruitt and his staff after 2 seasons.

Then spending another 10 million on a new coach, their school’s buyout, plus his staff.

Tennessee is a laughingstock because of this hire and fire culture.

You guys need to STFU and face reality.

Pruitt ain’t going anywhere.

Tennessee lost that credibility a long time ago. All these lunatic theories about the next coach should stop. Pruitt is the coach for the next several years win, lose or draw. Don't understand why people think some big shot experienced coach is going to come here or why they think getting rid of Pruitt so soon is going to turn things around. Fire him and we'll be set back another 10 years. Otherwise we just need some patience to stick with the guy about 5 years. And that means learning on the job. So be it. Go Vols!

We aren’t dropping 12+ million on top of Butch’s buyout to can Pruitt and his staff after 2 seasons. I don't know what TN will do, I DO KNOW Pruitt is not the answer!

Then spending another 10 million on a new coach, their school’s buyout, plus his staff. -Tennessee is one of the richest college football programs in the country. Football is the biggest money maker. The $ amounts you reference are nothing if attendance drops steadily this year. I am not arguing Pruitt should be fired today or this year. I am simply stating emphatically PRUITT IS NOT the Coach who will restore TN among college football elites. The loss last week is the worst loss in program history. It exposed Pruitt for what he is: a coordinator who was fortunate to be with ELITE teams and ELITE talent at Bama, FSU and GA.

Tennessee is a laughingstock because of this hire and fire culture - Incorrect answer

Tennessee is a laughingstock because of incompetence at the highest levels within the administration. Jeremy Foley firing Ron Zook during year 3 with a winning record is a prime example of ADs who recognize a loser quickly and act swiftly. Without Urban Meyer, FL is without their two most recent National Titles. How many coaches did Bama go through before getting lucky with Saban....we're on our 4th HC since Fulmer and Pruitt IS NOT THE ANSWER. That's what I'm saying, I have no idea how long he gets but the loss to GA St is unforgivable and inexcusable. Coacheshotseat nailed it with their comments on Pruitt.

You guys need to STFU and face reality. -what's with the unpleasantries, really? We're just debating. I am facing reality, Pruitt is a loser who managed to bring TN their worst loss in program history to start his 2nd year on rocky top, it's going to be rocky!

Pruitt ain’t going anywhere.
- He may or may not be going anywhere. My POINT WAS he is not the HC who will restore TN among college football elites.

Why do so many keep bringing up Tee Martin as the HC? What has he done to prove he’s even a capable OC?

UT can fix everything by hiring Tee as the head coach. He's a VFL so he tics that box. Just pay him $10 mil per and UT isn't cheap anymore. All our problems are solved and we're competing for titles in year one! So simple.

Unless theres a cancer in the locker room/office, yall are delusional thinking Pruitt might get canned this year.
