Trey Smith pulled left. That was likely supposed to be where either JG or Gray went, right behind our best lineman and straight into the open hole in the endzone. I just don't honestly believe that's what JG was supposed to do. Why else would Pruitt be so mad at him if he didn't run the play he was supposed to?

Could JG have thought that the play call was the 6 million dollar man and he was waiting on the springy noise to propel him over the lines?

Maybe you misunderstood me. If you look at the play, the same play called. just not executed by JG.
Simple eval. JG hears the play call. JG calls play in the huddle. The ball is snapped. JG holds the ball like he always does (passing included) (DEER in HeadLight) then does not see the hole or improvises....and as a result panics which results in a sack, a scramble for 1 yard, an overthrown ball, a short pass, or an interception.

This is the Wash Rinse Repeat of JG. Same results/options every down unless he hands it off.

Johnnyrebvfl,please can someone put this picture Johnny put up on the front of anything to do with the Bama game.and show for certain where the damn hole was!

He MUST be a practice field warrior. However he has had a career of once the lights come on he just wilts away from being a good player.

Kid has no anticipation or vision of whatā€™s happening on the field. Honestly he canā€™t find a new home soon enough for himself and for the teamā€™s sake.

Whatā€™s really a shame, is the fact that JG has all the tools to be very good, itā€™s so unfortunate, no?

Ten guys on the team ran one play and JG ran his own. Instead of following the blocks of the offensive line he went rogue and thought he would "fool" everyone including the Bama D and he would just jump over the line. (An impossible feat from his position.)

We would have had a chance, JG let his teammates down, it was a good drive.

We were competitive, team improving. Get a few more good recruiting classes and we will be playing for championship games. I still think Pruitt is our guy for a long time.

l was on the rail about Pruitt, but l liked what l saw last night! He grew up, had some fire and so did his team until the JG debacle at the 1. They are getting better and even in adversity, they were not quitting and l liked that about them last night.

I think I did misunderstand you, so my bad on that front, but regardless of whether or not it was intentional, I agree, he looked lost.

100%- JG was trying to play johnny hero- He is putrid as a QB. He would have NO CHANCE even at Rutgers.

Picking up 3-4 yds. on a running play at mid-field is a lot easier than picking up 1 yd. at the 2yd. line. Space is cramped, LBer's fill all the gaps and safeties are up close too. The best answer is the straight-up dive, which we tried 3 times. The only solution now is to practice the situation over and over again until every one is on the same page. I have down-talked JG this year starting after the GAST loss. This isn't going to help his confidence one bit. In reality he should have never been in that situation to start with, meaning UT should have gotten in on one of the 3 previous attempts and then have the nightmare of a fumble being returned 100 yds, (a 14 pt. swing), then have your coach grab your facemask and chew you out in front of the whole world....wow. Let us all just snap and clear, quit the finger-pointing and prepare to kick USCe's azz! They have already gotten lucky by this game having a 4:00 kick-off instead of being at night. We owe 'em one and now it's time to collect. Go Big Orange !

i definitely though we needed to take a timeout. But maybe they didnā€™t want the D to reset...with JG at QB throwing the ball is not gonna work so running was the only real option. I would have never made him the ballcarrier - he hasnā€™t shown anything as a runner since heā€™s been here.
