Bailey. CJP and co. believe Bailey coming in next year is our version of Lawrence at Clemson. Maurer won’t get meaningful snaps this year for the irrational fear of him having enough success to convince Bailey to look elsewhere.

Thoughts? Probably sounds half-baked but I’ve been lurking on here most of the day so rational thought is nearly shot.

I posted this exact same thing earlier today. It's the only thing I can make any sense of.

Ok I am going to let the cat out of the bag for everyone here. There is no possible way that Coach Pruitt is not letting a better qb play this year who may be successful for fear another QB who may or may not be successful in next year's class. This is dumber than the calls for him to be fired

So that’s your opinion? Got it. Well done. I just asked for thoughts. No other rationale in all this. Maurer’s time accounted for 3. JG...0

Give the kid a shot to at least pull a Peterman.

Apologies I do agree that Maurer should be given the keys. And given an honest shot to see what he has. Sorry if I misunderstood your post.

He plays because we’re going into conference play and we don’t want to scar Maurer/Shrout for life. Maybe Chaney can work his magic on him but I don’t think it’ll happen.

Losing too much risks Bailey as much as having a starter different than JG. And if UT finds a great QB... then they can afford to lose a recruit that might not work out anyway.

I think the whole thing with JG was scripted. I think they named him the unrivaled starter as part of a program they thought would fix his confidence issues. They bet on Chaney, Weinke, and Martin with a summer assist from Manning to turn him around. After they made that commitment, Pruitt didn't want to give up on him even after seeing the GSU and BYU games. He probably felt better about UTC... but that only confirmed JG's problem. He can't keep his head straight and play with confidence when there's pressure.

We will see in the coming weeks but if Pruitt wants to survive he will make the change and never look back. In fact, I would make Shrout and Maurer 1 & 2.

If your not always trying to improve the qb position you are losing. Play BM, it gives him more confidence and makes the competition with Bailey even better. We shouldn't be shying away form demanding more from our qb's, we should be pushing them not coddling them. And we need not waste a scholarship on a qb that doesn't have the true ability to play in this conference.

Lawrence wanted to play at Tennessee all along

I have had this same thought. Bailey is the real deal. A program changer. It’s mind boggling that JG plays D-1 football period.

Blue chip QB’s don’t sign with deficient, 1-2 win programs.

If this trajectory continues, and it will, HB will be in the wind with the rest of the class.

It will be apparent beyond a shadow of doubt by the end of this season that the HFCJP experiment is an utter failure, and that this campaign should be stricken from memory.

If the kid is as good as Maurer then he isn’t worried about any of the scrubs we have playing QB.

I’m relying on the thought of playing offense with a real quarterback instead of 10 guys and whatever Guarantano is on offense.
We have two other scholarship QBs and apparently the coaching staff can’t get them ready to play. I thought our coaches were ace recruiters and talent evaluators and yet we have no options at QB.

What is this based off of?

Look at JGs recruiting thread. People were saying we would hang his jersey after he left UT.

I hope Bailey is a program changer, but we don't know that.

Maurer still does not have enough snaps to form an accurate opinion if he will be better than JG. JG did not deserve to be put back in the game. Pruitt should have alternated Maurer and JT.

Have you watched Bailey play? Some have it. Some don’t. Bailey has it in spades.
