JG listed as starter for Auburn game

If one admitted that he really, kinda, was hoping this game would get cancelled too, would you guys demand he turn in his Vol card?
Asking for a friend.
GBO!!

You seriously can’t see the difference in playing Bailey as opposed to Gitmo?

It gets Bailey more experience. I get it but outside of that, there isnt that much more to it. We will lose either way. If Pruitt plays Bailey thats fine. If he plays JG, no big deal either.

My thoughts are 1) why tip off AU so they can prepare for a different QB and 2) go ahead and actually start JG in the hope that he actually has his game of the year and 3) if after one or two series of the usual malfunction, pull JG and let HB finish the game regardless.

At this point it's a BIG deal to get Bailey or anybody not named Guarantano extended game experience... That way, there is at least some benefit in a loss...

He has zero NFL prospects, and no other P5 team would play him.

Coming back is a near 100% chance that Pruitt plays him given the criminal lack of QB development by this staff, and Pruitt's coaching philosophy.
Still, you give no reason JG would come back. How is playing QB for a losing team going to pay any bills?

Why wouldn’t he come back? I mean if you could play college football another year or join the work force, what would you do? I doubt financial burden is an issue. Wasn’t JG from a private school in Jersey?

Thats the best you got? because he can? So can a thousand other college seniors who will never play in the NFL. Animal house 2021 the JG edition.

Best I’ve got? Hell I didn’t know it was a contest? We’re both guessing here. I would imagine JG enjoys playing QB. I would imagine he’s not comfortable with the way this year has went. That said I have no idea. He may be sick of being here. Who knows.

JG is not afraid of Auburn. JG lit up Auburn in 2018, and JG will lite them up once again, what say ye?

Please don't throw tomatatoes, throw snickers or milky ways please
No tomatoes from me. I think almost everybody just wants our QB to play well. I don’t want JG because he’s consistently played mediocre to awful. I think HB should be the guy going forward and Pruitt is crazy to roll with JG going forward. But if JG does well against Auburn and we win, that’s all we want.

LOL, paying bills? He's a college QB with delusions of playing pro, why would "paying (non-descript) bills" suddenly be the deciding factor in whether he's going to continue to play football?

He's coming back until he's not, just like he's going to start every game until Pruitt starts someone else.

This is what’s wrong with our fan base. Why would you ever root for your team to lose? Ok fine if you expect them to lose, but you should never want them to lose.. these boys still got parents in the stands rooting their hearts out for their children and their team to succeed.
...because sometimes it takes a swift kick in the balls to realize that the program is heading in the wrong direction. We keep eeking out narrow margins of wins and we get what we saw at the beginning of the year and in Butch's reign, contract extension. This only leads to a larger payout for when we eventually fire the coach. As crude as it may sound, I care not how a football parent feels, they are not what keeps the program afloat and thriving, it's the everyday fan. If you feel bad, give them a participation trophy. Sometimes the kids just aren't good enough, and that is a hard fact of life.

R E L A X. it is the same depth chart that has always been released, they had JG as the starter last week and he never even practiced. Do you all really expect them to announce a qb change this early in the week?
Well, why not? It's not like there's any tape on our backups that teams could use against us.

CJP when asked refused to say who would be the starter Saturday. Said something like "you'll have to wait and see Saturday."

That means to me its the HB show.

Whatever. I guess losing with Bailey is different then losing with JG to you. I see a loss is a loss.
Yes. It is. One is pouring money into a sinkhole. One is an investment with a possible return.

If you were producing plastic parts with a machine that was undersized, had leaky cylinders, with 20 year old PLC's and logic and had the option of installing a new machine... chances are your production would be great in the short run regardless of which option you chose. There is a cost to disrupting production, buying a machine, installing it, and then working out the bugs. The difference is that the new machine offers a "J" improvement curve whereas the old machine "is what it is".

We shall see. Honestly I don’t expect Bailey to be that good here. He will likely get no development and turn out to be a bust. If he is smart, he would just transfer. Besides, JG will likely play anyway.

So a couple of guys who succeeded in developing QB's previously are the problem rather than the QB who no coach has been able to do much with?

You could be right. But I don't think the problem is Chaney or Weinke.

FTR, I don't know what Bailey has and am on record saying I think Salter will be the "QB of the future".

Either way, we know that JG is sunk costs. You can't take the investment back but it is foolish to continue to invest in him. Even if Bailey is a low probability QB... that's better than a "no return" investment.

Agree to disagree then bc I would never root for any of my teams to lose. ✌️

Orrrr, he doesn't want to catch a bunch of sh!t from the whole football watching world between now and Saturday.....
