"JG isnt the problem, OL is" argument is dead

I don't disagree, this staff has done nothing to make me believe they can develop a qb.

I'm not saying I support firing Pruitt it that he should be on the hot seat. But I am seeing troubling patterns and a lack of offensive development.

Pruitt is here for two more years after this season minimum. That extension Fulmer stupidly gave him before the season all but ensures that, but I don't see him making any significant staffing changes, so player development will continue to suffer.

Outside of QB which is obviously the most important position on the field, but you'd be reminiscent to not acknowledge almost every other position groups on the field has improved

I used that for 2 years and for the most part stand by that argument. No longer the case.
I know the OL didn't live up to standards yesterday. I know GA defense is incredible and they brought the pain in the 2nd half.
But JG is the reason they lost the game. Stop with the OL argument.
Tennessee's defense actually played very well, mostly the front 7. They actually had some success with pressure on Bennett and GA didn't run all over them for 3 Qs, minus a couple big plays. The fact it was only 26-21 was impressive.
You can't say "Well Bennett didn't have the pressure or lack of ground game that JG had." Sorry, but thats a poor excuse considering how solid the D played and Bennett was playing in his 3rd ever game and had no turnovers meanwhile your 3 yr starting 5th yr playing former #2 dual threat QB wets the bed in the backfield with 3 fumbles and a pick. His ball security and awareness to get the ball out was terrible.
I love the guy, he's a VFL and I've pulled for him as much as anyone, but he is the reason they lost so badly.
Despite the OL woes, he can't rise to the occasion in big games when he's needed most. You can argue that he looked really good in the first half when he had more time. Sure, but he folded under pressure and fell apart like he always does.
If your QB can’t buy one second with his feet, get the ball out of his hands without staring down a receiver for 30 minutes or tuck the ball and take a sack without fumbling the best offensive line will look like crap against a decent defense.

Oline? What has Will Friend done? Running backs? Zero consistency, zero standouts. Secondary? Always out of place, regardless of the opponent. Dline? Couldn't even line up properly until game 4 of last year, and couldn't put the screws to a 5th string QB behind an entirely new Offensive Line.

He's recruited better players, they have more raw talent, but the staff has done little to develop it. We aren't seeing jumps in performance by guys like Henry To'oto'o going into their second year, we are seeing them exhibit the same talent that he came here with, and little more.

Also Chaneys playcalling didn’t help the o-line. Ridiculously predictable

When the OL plays well JG is good enough to beat anyone. When the OL plays bad JG becomes a liability.

And that goes for just about any QB. Look at Manning’s record setting season a few years ago and how it ended in a Super Bowl trouncing. He was mauled that night and couldn’t do anything.

UGA is the best defense we will face. Its over. Let’s move on. Still plenty of FB left.

Umm they managed a grand total of zero net rushing yards, nearly every quarterback looks worse under pressure including Tom Brady. It is one thing to waste time in the pocket and getting sacked due to coverage down field. It is quite another to be running for your life due to missed blocks and pass rushers running freely through or around the line. I don’t know what planet many of you live on where qb’s thrive under pressure

The one where dual threat QBs go to the NFL and other SEC teams with these QBs win championships... but I guess it’s a new year with the same excuses

O line has improved it may not have shown up yesterday, RBs are better than they were the first year Pruitt took over, secondary has improved (Nigel warrior was all SEC last year and well as Bryce thompson) and this year they've been hampered by injuries, front 7 has improved and I don't even know why that's in question especially the run defense. Line up properly falls on Pruitt and I'm not gonna disregard that but it had zero effect on the game yesterday. What did was JGs typical BS and with UGA pinning their ears back it spelled bad news for us.

O-line is going to be a strength against most teams on the schedule...maybe even Alabama...and the offense's success will depend on JG. Against UGA, the o-line was horrible to the point that I think they deserve most of the blame. UGA has an elite front seven and the o-line couldn't do anything against them. To be fair, JG can be credited with producing most of the yards and all 14 points on offense...so there's bad and good things you can point out in his performance. For the o-line...only bad things. None of the sacks were because JG held onto the ball too long. I'm not giving him much blame in this game, but a repeat performance against any other team on the schedule...even Alabama with their less than elite defense...then I'll be right there with you.

They sent more blitzers than we could block simply due to the fact that JG doesn't scare anyone and can't read the field properly.

The OL was being manhandled the first half as well. The only difference is JG handled it much better. Yet we still managed to go into half with the lead. Thats all we need from the qb position, to not fold under pressure. JG is serviceable as a qb UNTIL that first mistake where he then simply wilts. He needs a cooling off period before going back out there in my opinion and I think last year simply proves this. Let him sit a few drives and get it out of his head and then he is ok usually, throw him right back out there and his previous mistake will naw at him to the point he will make another.

Exactly.

This works with any position that makes a BAD mistake. Go sit on the bench and think about it.
The interception was all on JG!
Any seasoned QB seeing that much pressure in his face, tucks the ball and takes the sack.
A 5th year senior that throws it up for grabs off his back foot, needs his attention gotten!
A true freshman couldn’t of done any worse.
THAT was the moment he needed to sit.

Where was the OL the second half? -2 yards rushing total for the game?? We can start anybody at QB but it's the OL that needs fixed first. That's one of the best in the country especially since Mays is playing. They didn't live up to it yesterday.

We did have two Interceptions we dropped. Flowers in the endzone. Game should have been much closer and should have come down to last few drives of 4th Quarter. JG has to be better yes at recognizing but the O Line has to be better as well. There is more blame to go around in this game than just One Man.

JG is average against average teams. How many average teams has he lit up and had impressive completion percentage against?
When Manning or Brady turned the ball over 3 times, it's because they played poorly.

JG had the RB open right away and should have delivered the ball then. He may not have broken the tackle to get first down or he may have but the ball had to get out quickly in the flat instead of waiting for defender to get there and then Panic with a throw.

JG - at best can manage the game for you......only when things are going OK - good (refer back to the “at best” part).

However everyone in the world already knows this.....including the coaches and the other team.

The O line was a hot mess. The running game was a hot mess. Other than a few plays the O was terrible all game long.....including the first half.

The D gave Tennessee 7, stoped Georgia from getting 7, and stopped them on another 4th which gave Tennessee a short field and let to another 7.

Georgia has good field position, and the D was put in bad positions many times. I feel the D held up about as well as could be expected.....considering.

for me I put this on the coaches. Their at the top, their captain of that ship. They kept the QB in there, they didn’t adjust or didn’t adjust properly.

Georgia spotted you 7, the Georgia coach gave you a 10 point swing....in your favor......that’s 17 points.......and you still lose by 23???? COME ON.....there is no excuse!

How many times has JG had dropped picks? That argument is a wash. Bennett played against a good defense and played a million times better.

Combination. JG isn’t responsible for -1 yard rushing. You should be able to put me out there at QB, hand off every time and do better than that. JG had some nice throes in th 1st half. They also had excellent field position. The 2nd half was different story. UGA tightened up some things and CHaney went full retard.

Well, he had -40 yards rushing thanks to his fumbles deep in the backfield, so yeah, he is a good bit responsible for -1. Plus out of his 23 completions 10 were dump offs to running backs very short. Another 7 were also short dump offs to other players. We burned Georgia with two deep throws but mostly they were just packing the box and playing everything like it was going to be short. Which is a JG trait. When the deep threat doesn't exist really, it's very hard to run the ball and it's hard for the offensive line to get much done either, they get overwhelmed with too many people to try and block. The running backs also stunk out loud blocking last night too.

So 47 yards rushing would have been good?

Spare me. JG was running for his life. Hell Gray was ghost tackled in the back field.
Sack yards are drive killers. You are missing the point, so you can take your spare me attitude. JG is just not that good and well that has a big impact on the offense and really the game overall team. You have to make to the throws like he did in the first half to keep the defense honest for the entire game. You have to show you can handle different defensive looks. JG can't and it compromises the offense and the team. Time will tell about the offensive line. We have seen enough of JG to know that impact.

its only a wash if we intercept the two passes.
He was 14-23 for 190 yards and 1 TD in a game against Missouri where they dominated at the LOS. He was erratic against SC. A 3rd year starting 5th year senior shouldn't be average against average teams.

Correction: he shouldn't be average against bad teams.

JG is and always will be a mediocre QB. His 3 fumbles were his fault for failure to pull the ball into his body and fall down when he knew he was swarmed. Better to be sacked and lose yards and a down than to lose the football

JG was bad in second half and yes we needed him to be better. But lets not put the whole blame on him as if the rest of the team played flawless and if JG would have been better we would have won.

Anybody that saw what an over matched Ole Miss was able to do against Bama should know we lack the QB play and the offensive coaching to get us to the top. Pruitt in all this time still has not upgraded the most important position on the team. They sign all of these QB recruits and then you hear whispers they don't like them.
