I really don't care if JG starts / plays against Bama. Say what you will, but anyone with a room-temperature football IQ knows that UT has slightly below a snowballs chance in hell of beating Bama, so I see no good reason to make the switch there. If anything, the Bama game will make it exceeding clear (as if it's not already) that JG is not an SEC-caliber QB, and has (in my opinion) lost the trust of the UT offense. If...when he struggles against Bama, if they want to give another QB the opportunity, then so be it. But it's best to accept the fact that this is going to be a 2-3 team after the Bama game; use the next 3 weeks of practice to find the new #1 and #2 QB; and then roll with that plan moving forward. At this point, we're playing for a bowl game...any bowl game...and finding our QB for the 2021 season. It is what it is.
But if JG touches anything other than a clipboard after the Bama game, unless it's mop-up duty with a 30-point lead and 4 minutes to play...you'll have to send me a text message to tell me about it, because I will not be there, or anywhere, to watch it. I have an uncomfortable suspicion that there is a lot going on behind the scenes in UT Football right now, and if Coach Pruitt isn't careful, he might end up losing more than just another football game or two. I think he is at or near a crossroads where he is at risk of losing the support of the coaching staff, the players, and the UT fan base. We all know how those things tend to end, so the next few days (and weeks) are going to be critical for UT Football...and his career. Forewarned is forearmed.
I still think he gets this season and next almost regardless...but I've been wrong before. If Jeremy Pruitt wants to be the head football coach at UT, now would be a good time for him to start making wise decisions.
Go Vols.
