JG Helmet Spike After Loss

He made a lot of the throws to get us in a winning position at the end of the game. His coaches did not give him the opportunity to show what he can do in the intermediate passing game until they were desperate... he made a few mistakes, but it's his first start learning from a terrible offensive coaching staff. Would you have preferred him to act like an emotionless butch robot?

I agree, at some point id like to see the emotional displays toned down but would much rather see vols respond like that guarantano. You should HATE failure.

Butch wants them to be programmed emotionless robots, with all the "we dont think about it being florida" "i have no idea how long the streak is, we dont worry about stuff like that, we just want to be 1-0 every week."

That craps makes me sick. Its like Butch's biggest fear is emotion. He thinks his infallible scheme is such an exact scientific formula that all 11 players must execute with the dry detached, clinical manner of Spock.

He doesnt like bulletin board material or emotional advantages. He is as much fun as a physics text book in russian, without pictures. Remember when numbnuts told the celebrating OK player, "Have some class." Lol what a loser they just spanked you and you beg for mercy, or class or whatever....loser.

Its funny but this year the players have shown the MOST emotion since Butch got here and its in direct defiance to Butch. Butch has no clue on how to channel and focus that emotion, since its a human element hes totally unfamiliar with.

I actually hate when they mimic his cliches and demeanor, now that hes lost the team, we've seen a lot less of that.

Oh, to answer the question, Dormady's game vs GT was MUCH better.

It was inconsistent. You can’t have it both ways. Either the players fault, or the coaches fault.

JG wasn’t great today, but he also didn’t turn the ball over, and showed some passion. He has the tools. Dormady does too, but you have been so obsessive with the competition and your technical definition of what makes a QB it clouds your observation.

It’s obvious that things weren’t clicking with your boy so they have given JG a shot. Oh yeah, you were so so right about how Dobbs was not a good QB over the years that we should defer to your superior judgment. You spent 4 years critiquing Dobbs instead of the job the coaches did in developing him. So how are people supposed to take you seriously now. Now it’s not everyone else?

JG did some things well, and has some things he needs

I'd actually like to hear that someone on this team went back to the locker room and destroyed everything in sight.

This is why Guarantano was so upset. Should have been a game winning pass!

It didn't look that close on TV!

Anybody else see that?

Spiked his helmet between his legs right in front of 3 South Carolina players and it looked like they mocked him afterward.

What honestly annoyed me was no coach or player went over to him afterwards "That I saw" and put their arm around him and showed him some support...CBJ should've made a beeline towards him after that game but he shook hands with Muschamp and left the building...I feel bad for the kid he really wanted this win and I wanted it for him.

Should they have wiped his tears?

I'm glad to see the emotion. I would be more concerned if he walked off the field like he didn't give a sh!t. It tells me that losing isn't considered a fact of life by some UT players. The players are showing that they are thirsty for a win.

He's our QB man...They should've at least showed him a little support...It hurts to lose and you can tell he was hurting over the loss...More so than some of our fans I see

CBJ knows he is done and he checked out. Any other coach would have been over there doing what you said. Those are coaching moments. Jones doesn't do those well anyway so it is probably for the best.

And why do the coaches not let the QB'S be more involved wearing head sets and let them in but no butch wants to wear it and keep all his timeouts in the first have like he can keep them all game . Fire them tonight let Fulmer finish the year

The system is simple it is read option...you hand it to the RB....you fake the hand off to the RB and run it...or you pass it to the open receiver. To do it properly you need a QB who can read the defense and determine what to do. The QB must be mobile...al la Josh Dobbs.

JGs body language and leadership was terrible throughout the whole game.. I do t want to hear about his emotional outburst...the kid is immature and childish

Guy was in the defensive huddle firing them up all game and he showed some awesome passion throughout. I don't know what you were watching.

We should all be proud that he cares enough to react like that. He looked hurt and rightfully so.. he deserves a better coaching staff than what is currently on the sideline.

We should have class imho...but this is the world we live in unfortunately...

If he plays his heart out he can throw his helmet every game.
I’ll take this over the apathy over losing that is becoming too frequent.
It must have been heartbreaking to have been in the red zone that many times and the play calling blew your chance for a first game win
