JG coming off bench???

Remember, in the past JG came off the bench in several games and was not the "starter"? He seemed to play better that way for some reason. I never understood that rational, but if it helps him oh well.

Could the Vols have had a different outcome if they would have yanked him after the first signs of his second half meltdown and allowed him to re-enter the game after being "benched"? Could this have slowed his spiraling meltdown and madness? Possibly.

If the staff has done this with him in the past, multiple times, why not this season? What has changed? Has Pruitt and the staff just forgotten this was a more effective approach for him?

Mind boggling.

He’s an average QB, that’s it. Not defending him, but he has some quality wins under his belt as a QB at UT. He has also made huge mistakes, like every QB does. My only defense of him is a reaction to everyone else blaming everything on him.

Where‘s the criticism of Wanya Morris in the Georgia loss? He was flat out awful and was a big reason UGA’s D line was in the backfield all day. If JG has just a half second longer on 2 of those fumbles, he throws it away or is able to scramble for a few yards.
How much time should the oline provide???
SC he only needed 2.19
MIZZOU 2.29
UgA he was 2.41
Those are all times to throw..On his int bs UGA he had 2.48.....and that was with 2 guys running free....i contend he had time just cant make throws into tight coverage so he hold the ball to long...of course there maybe 1 or 2 exceptional plays

If he ever makes it back to the bench, he should probably just stay there. Lol.
I agree with this. But JG would stay on the bench if another QB finally takes the reigns and wins the job. JG’s play gave Maurer and Shrout lots of opening last year to go win the job (including several starts) and they didn’t.

Both QBs were young and inexperienced.

Last year I thought Mauer was the better QB. However, I went back and watched all the games during lockdown, and I think Shrout is actually our best prospect.

Shrout is a little risky, but hopefully that can be fixed with just some playing time.

I doubt we will see either though.
