Makes it sound like its all CBJ's fault. Glanville said he never lost a player to quitting, that he always talked them into staying..Basillio really supporting this opinion.

Yet look at JG's coaching record.

63-73 in NFL and 9-24 in college! And TB is listening to this clown?

He's a regular contributor to TB's show....his coaching record is commensurate with TB's reputation as a broadcaster.

They are the guys to listen to if you want expert analysis on professional wrestling.

Butch is the caretaker of TN football. He is the VOLS leader. A few points on being a leader below. This is primarily from the business side but nonetheless the principles still apply. If I were Butch, as the leader of TN football I would have found a way and would still find a way to restore Hurd to the VOLS football team assuming they both want restoration, are willing to seek it and the team is on board with it.

This would require humility with awesome leadership and Butch is capable.

I was firmly in the piss on Hurd camp when this all happened but it's just a weird mess. Regardless of what really happened, he quit. You can say these are kids who make emotional decisions but there has to be a reason Butch accepted this so easily. Even if he stormed off, I would imagine Butch could cover up for him, contact his family, and let the anger die down but I imagine there has to be some truth to all of the rumors we've heard considering how it went down and the timing. I think it's a huge mistake to let him back on the team regardless.

It's way beyond the question of whether CBJ would let him back on the team. If the Sunday night meeting went anywhere close to the description, he lost the trust of his teammates. Do we think that they could just have a big group hug and pick up as if nothing happened?

Forgiveness is great, but some things spoken can't be unheard. :dunno:

Butch has been trying to keep him happy since the end of last year. The players called a meeting basically to tell Hurd to leave. How is Butch supposed to keep Hurd when the majority of the team doesn't want him there? Lose one player or lose the team, he made the right decision by letting him leave

He's still not wrong though. It would better for both sides to come down off the ledge and let their ego's and pride out of the way.

I beg to differ! Jerry was one of the most colorful NFL coaches ever and his rivalry with Sam Wyche (coached the Bengals many years ago when they were actually good enough to make the superbowl) was so much fun to follow. They used to run up the score on each other (up by 40 and fake taking the knee only to throw another TD type of stuff). Here is one example:

Also, how many coaches have regularly left tickets for Elvis because of the following logic: 'if he is alive there is no question he is following my team'? :crazy:

If things at the meeting went the way reported (I use the word reported with some misgiving) and the team made their decision on Hurd, the Butch had little leverage to save him. Yes, Butch very likely would then lose the team. If Hurd refused to go into games, well, Butch let things go too far, should have sent him to locker room right then and as soon as he consulted with AD as to legal positon of school, sent him packing.

Time to move the heck past the Hurd drama...which obviously is what the kid is about. There have been more than enough bits of information leaked about his antics/verbal confrontation with coach (obviously thinks he's above being coached hard),selfishness,not a team player, etc. etc.... The kid needs to go and Butch should never look back. You can bet your next house payment Butch and Co. did everything they could to resolve his issues. Unfortunately some kids are too immature and selfish to see it. I mean I'm sure he's been told how great he is for the last 10 yrs!..which absolutely promotes a sense of ENTITLEMENT! We will be just fine..and I predict BETTER without him!
