Jerry Colquitt critical of Dooley on starting Worley

Nope, Jerry just doesn't want to see another Senior lose his job to a potential superstar and that senior be religated to obscurity.

Colquitt lost his job due to injury, not Manning beating him out. In fact, Manning was 3rd on the depth chart when all the QBs on the roster were healthy.

Kinda like Worley being 3rd on the d chart when all our QB's are healthy.

"Justin Worley – I feel bad for this kid. Why? Because he like many others are victims of those who coach them or recruit them. Its stories like these that don’t get enough attention in my opinion. Unfortunately, he will be unfairly blamed for losing Saturday, which looks inevitable. What will he think of the truth of his coach’s words (Derek Dooley) that he promised he’d look after him like a son when he recruited him? An action like this is why nothing and I mean nothing shocks me about coaches in college. How can you stick him in the game for mop up duty backed up against Alabama in a beat down if he has a bright future? Coach Dooley are you going to get that year back? Are you going to play Worley in significant parts of games in 2012 when the opportunities arise like Coach Spurrier played Doug Johnson sporadically with Danny Wuerrfel? If Worley CAN play, you better because what happened to him Saturday is just bad and purely knee jerk reacting. Welcome to college football my fellow Vol! Whatever the outcome, Mr. Worley, I will always side with you, Simms and Bray and the guys in uniform when a coach uses players as scapegoats for lack of preparation, in-game adjustments and lack of foresight as reason to deny you the opportunity to have two years to start for this university. " goes on to say:

"Da’Rick said on twitter Justin Worley looked better in practice than he anticipated he would, sounds bad but can you expound? Do you have something personal against Mr. Worley that would make you actually start him against this front four? "

 It's one thing to be critical but this sounds like some personal beef Colquitt has w/ CDD... I always felt sympathy for Colquitt after his injury in '94 but now he's showing a real lack of class!

Not a VFL!

I wish Mr. Colquitt would talk to Worley and ask him if he'd rather sit on the bench or come in and play a top 15 team that passed on him.
Yea I've been thinking nothing would give Worley more Pleasure than Beating spurrier

Dooley made the right call . But JC is entitled to his opinion. And yes he was a qb not punter a, also he is Black so I'm pretty sure he is not related to Britton and Dustin.

Tacky. Raised in a barn, IMO. (Colquitt, that is.)

So, what happens if Worley comes out and wins us the game? Does Colquitt still feel that way, or does he not care what is best for the team over the individual?

Football is a team sport. The good of the team should always be put over individual needs. Colquitt's quote sounds like a guy with sour grapes because he sat on the bench most of his college career.

So it's not right to put a kid in and try something to give the team a spark? It's not right to bench the worst QB in the conference in order to try and get to 6 wins and get us another month of practices for a bowl game? If Colquitt and former players feel like this then maybe, just maybe Fulmer was a far worse coach than I thought he was. This type of thinking is just foolish. Notice he just criticizes and doesn't offer an alternative.

He's probably a republican. Bit** and Bit** but no answers.

WTF

Yeah Dooley is a real Bastard for wanting Worley to play QB for us. The arrogance and contempt Derek directs toward Justin is just Heartbreaking and Stomach Churning.I can't believe he is throwing this kid under the bus. Who the hell does he think he is expecting Justin to all the sudden play the position he was recruited to play.

Poor Poor kid I bet he is scared out of his wits right now. Poor thing is probably hiding somewhere dark in the fetal position as I am typing this. I just hope he doesn't fall off the Turnip Truck on the way to Neyland tonight.

Dooley you bastard how can you live with yourself knowing your making your football players play Football.

Anyone know what Colquitt is doing now?

I ran into him at a alumni meetup for games last year here in Seattle. I believe he was a drug rep or medical supply guy. Seemed like a nice guy. Could not disagree more with him on this though. I really doubt Worley is upset about starting games including against South Carolina no less
