Schofield may still be growing, he was listed at 6-5, 270 last August and 6-3, 240 in Aug. '06. At a combine this April he measured 6-6.5, 299. He did 13 BP reps and his average 40 time was a 5.39 (4 attempts).

FWIW, Quinton Washington, another South Carolina OL being recruited by UT, participated in the same combine. At 6-3, 308 he did 31 BP reps and recorded an average 40 time of 5.19.

Schofield broke his wrist as a sophomore and missed several games. He received no football honors last year that I could find online. Also plays basketball but only averaged 2 or 3 points per game last year, so I assume he didn't start.

Sounds like he's a pretty raw prospect but since he clearly impressed at UT's camp, perhaps he's developing/improving quickly.

He is from the high school that produced Dakota Watson a couple of years ago. The school has had a coaching change since Dakota was recruited. Kevin Steele recruited Dakota for FSU and used negative recruiting tactics against UT to seal the deal. I had not heard anything about this recruit and watched a couple of South Aiken games last year, but will look out for him this year.

anyone hear that Steele was doing this and wasnt there a time when a lot of us thought he was coming to Tennessee?

I am noticing that ALOT of the recruits that the new staff is finding and offering are on the way up.

Petty, Revis, Phillips, Schofield, Oliver, Allen, and even Nunes according to an ESPN article.

Shame on you, you are suggesting that the Staff may have a plan and know what it is doing. :whistling:

OP, I usually try to be open minded and positive but even I had some doubts over the past couple of weeks. I questioned whether those guys were recruiting for UT or Richmond. But like you said, looks like they know what they're doing.

Got a 5.7 ranking from rivals good enough for 3 stars.... I look for his stock to continue to rise. Hopefully we can keep him from the Cocks and Tigers.

Revis is also listed as the #10 center prospect in the nation.

Juco rankings should be out soon.

Yeah that is why I said "keep" him from the Cocks and Tigers....
They both got in on him late....

I am really liking this class so far.....Huge OL in Phillips and Schofeild
Revis quality center...Foster seems to be a quality guard...add Peter White as the other and our OL is looking good for the future

Highly ranked QB, RB, WR, and ATH with Thigpen..can play all around

Good LB's so far.....and corner in Hunter

Quality DT already added...need 2 more

Class is shaping up nicely

It is interesting that alot of people were very critical when UT offered this kid. It appears Rivals in giving him a high 3* rating saw what the UT staff saw. I wish I could find some of those sarcastic comments now about how Rivals had ignored him and how we beat out Gardner-Webb for his services...
