Je'Ron Stokes

It is an excellent point. It seems like we offer 2 or 3 guys every year that everyone knows won't qualify academically so they're sent to juco. So why not offer lil bro?

I wouldn't offer him (if he wasn't good enough) based on the fact of false hope. Reality is (if he's not that good) that he'll never see PT and would be better for the kid to go to a smaller school than wasting away his eligibility and not being able to play - its just not really the right thing to do.

Hypothetical situation. You have a 95% chance at landing a Larry Fitzgerald caliber WR if you offer his brother a scholarship, would you do it?

I don't even have to think about the answer to this question. I would forfeit 3 scholarships to land 1 player of that quality.

And the fact that if Malik gets here and warms the bench, both Je'Ron and Malik will be pissed, and tell any recruits they can to not come here.

lol - why even try to make hypothetical situations like this when something like that would never happen?

Then they are both pussies. There are lots of them every year. Stupid kids, bitter because they weren't handed the starting job on a silver platter. Give me a break. Anyone that accepts a scholarship at the University of Tennessee should know that they will have to work their tail off, if they want to play.

All that a scholarship promises is a chance at an education and a chance to compete. What they do with that chance, is up to them. If they don't get playing time, it is no one else's fault.

Does anyone even understand what a hypothetical situation is???

I am not directly comparing Fitgerald to Stokes.

I was simply saying that scholarships are wasted every year on kids that have no chance to see the field. If it is up to me, I am willing to sacrifice an extra scholarship to land an All-American.

I agree....these kids are given a free education to play football whether they get some PT or not. Getting an education is getting more and more expensive every year. These kids need to get their educations because not these kids are going to get to play in the NFL.

bye bye Stokes...:wavey:

not official...but he is looking at Mich., Penn st., and georiga

Stokes doesn't know who would be the favorite if he decides Knoxville, Tenn. isn't the place for him, "It is between Illinois, Michigan, Penn State and Georgia. I'll announce on signing day at my school. I want to do it around noon."

Just like Giles, why announce to a school you are already committed to?

You guys think we have lost out on him?

I think he is gone gone gone tbh. Why else schedule a PC to announce your school unless you are changing your committment. Also has anyone seen a single article lately about the current staff meeting with him? I havent, may have missed it but its almost like the staff has moved on.

I believe Monte/Lane/O had an in-home with him already and I think the new coach Wilson visited with him in the past few days. I have seen specific names and dates on who has gone to see him from out staff, but I don't know that I can dig through Rivals/Scout/VQ to get that info right now, because I'm going out for the day in a few minutes.

*edit: on 1/19 it was reported on VQ that Frank Wilson was in Philadelphia (most likely to see Stokes). His departure flight was delayed by two hours---don't know why...it could've been that the visit was going well and he wanted to stick around longer. That's my glass is half-full take on it. that's VQ speculation, take it as you wish.

This is an uneasy read. I hate how he says it is between those teams. If he doesn't pick us. I think we have a 30% chacne with this kid now. The more I hear about him the worse it gets IMO
