Does anyone know what's up with Askew? I'm pretty sure he redshirted last year, and I don't understand that. We were not very deep at LB and could have used him. Did he just not step up, or what? There were a lot of expectations for him when he signed.

I'm just excited to have four years from him now. Him playing last year wouldn't have made us go 8-5 or 9-4.

all of these recruits that we signed last year that are popping back up because they redshirted, didn't qualify academically, were injured, or just didn't pan out are reminding me to temper my expectations of this year's prospects

You really know how to burst a bubble don't you?:)

Hopefully, Dooley can do a better job of getting buy in from the existing players. Although some were due to fall off, I think a few last year could see through Kiffin's BS and the reason they quit. JMHO

This is one of the best argument for the stars debate. You never know how a player will turn out whether they are ranked good or bad. Your lesser known players who become good are a suprise and your higher rated ones either do as expected or busts. I believe I heard Askew wasn't ready last year with defensive assignments and maybe the physical side of it. A MLB is a really mental position and you have to be ready for it and as a freshman you probably aren't.

im not takeing his (kiffin's) side on this one but you have to think of it in terms of a HC.... at the start of the year before any of the injuries occured we were pretty good at LB and theres really no arguement that we werent..... but then reveiz got hurt and on down the line but the thinking was that we were set for last year in LB so he redshirted him to have an extra year from him and to develope him even further... and the halfway point in the season and when the injuries started occuring you dont want to strip his redshirt after he has already sat out over half of the year....

According to a couple of walk ons I know, this guy is Chris Donald 2.0. Hopefully he will grasp Wilcox's system.

I've heard the same. That he had trouble grasping Monte's system. Hopefully with a year under his belt he'll be able to pick things up quicker.

I remember Jerod Askew was redshirting b4 the season started, that he allready knew..Cause someone asked him on his FB or something like that....So this guy is not someone who didnt pan out as a freshman. He will contribute big this year

Hopefully he will be the 2011 starting MLB, because after frazier and reveiz we are weak there

Kiffin didnt always read every person correctly in my opinion. I'm willing to give Jarod the benefit of the doubt. If the kiffins were as good as they were stated we wouldnt be in the Ole Miss record books now.

We weren't that thin at ILB last year. Did anyone expect us to be using a 3rd stringer to finish out the last half of the season. And it could've been better, but it was hardly a kiss of death.

Anyone heard if he has done anything in spring ball yet? I know the third practice is only today but I really had high hopes from him when he signed.

Is it true Jerod is going to play all 3 LB spots at the same time this season?
