after reading comments, it obviously looks like he attacked lane kiffin. so that only lets me know he didnt do his homework on who Jerry Tarkanian truly was and why the NCAA had it out for him. Coach T is actully looked up to by many coaches around the country who beat the school yard bully (NCAA) he did what most people wanted to do and never hid the truth. if he knew a kid on his team needed clothes or food, he openly did what that was right and bought whatever it was the kids needed. he thought some of the rules were dumb like most people do and fought the NCAA all the way to court and won because he was right. so Jeremy get your facts straight. According to the courts Tarkanian did what was right in his heart

When I watch the Sports Reporters, I think of the Caddy Shack Country Club. A bunch of old men (hasbeens) who aren't relevant anymore, talking about the good old days of baseball.

Once we start winning, Shapp will change his tune. At which point, all of volnation will talk about how they've always liked him and that he is a quality journalist.

Totally different scenario. Even if CLK is only coach at UT because of his dad (which I doubt), his dad is actually coaching at UT. So CLK isn't coaching here because of who his dad is, but because of who he could get as his defensive coordinator. The argument for Schapp would only be applicable if he was co-hosting a show with his dad, or something of that ilk.

The reason I struggle with the idea that CLK was only hired because of his dad is because there's no way Monte would have been hired as the head coach at UT. You don't hire a head coach just b/c he can bring in a great coordinator. Also, if he hadn't gotten Monte or if he quit in a year where would that leave Hamilton. That said, I have no doubt that the staff CLK thought he could assemble was a selling point for Hamilton and Monte was exhibit 1 and Orgeron was exhibit 1a.

Just for the record, and I love Coach Knight, he handled the situation with JS wrong...in my opinion

Also for the record Coach Knight was a big fan of and friends with Tark...he thought he was one of the few truly honest coaches, no b.s. what you saw if what you got and he made no pretense of being anything but a coach. As I have written before I see a lot of similarities early on between CLK and CBK.

So a comparison of CLK with either CBK or Tark just ups my respect for CLK.

Schapp is a Dungeons and Dragons, pencil-necked geek who couldn't play sports, so he makes a living writing about them. Lupica is the same. They both suck and we shouldn't care what they say about southern football.

I do find it hillarious, however, that all of these guys (except Bob Ryan) were arguing thta Tiger Woods could "fully recover" from his recent fiasco. It is just funny when these guys are dispassionately arguing that Tiger's indescretions are basically irrelevant but a bunch of rumors about hostess (which are unnconnected to the UT coaching staff) is the most morally outrageous thing going on in sports right now.

I say again: pencil-necked geeks. THEY are irrelevant.

How quikly we forget. Jane Kiffin would still be unemployed if not for Monty. Not just coming with him but to call in another favor from Carrol. Carrol owes Monty everything so Monty had Carrol work Hammy to get his boy the job. Glass houses??:neener2:
