-Confirmed Trevon Flowers out for a few weeks with a broken collarbone.

-Auburn is one of the top defensive teams in the country. They can do it with just their front four.

-On offense they run the ball well and play really fast.

-Todd Kelly Jr. is continuing to work to get back. He played a little special teams last week. He's taking baby steps which is a credit to him because he had a severe injury. He's worked extremely hard.

-On helping the offensive line, we can bring in tight ends to help block, but we need to get them to play hard and know what to do. But we have to do things they know.

-Asked about a nine game schedule Pruitt said he's got a lot more things to be working on than how the SEC should schedule.

-During the bye week we working really hard on tackling and blocking. We went back to the ABC's of what you do in spring and fall camp. The only way I know how to get better is do go do it, and that's what we did last week.

-On defense, Saturday we need to limit explosive plays and get off the field on third down.

-Baylen Buchanan is a guy who can play inside and outside corner. He's got to improve at tackling and be more physical.

-Auburn does a great job of using multiple personnel and making you play sideline to sideline. We have to recognize formations and where people are. Malzahn's teams have always gotten better as the season has gone on.

-Trevon Flowers played the last half of the UGA game and made a nice interception when we jumped offsides.

-There have been some bright spots in the last few weeks but also inconsistencies. Our entire team needs to improve on execution and being consistent.

-We have four guys that can execute what we're trying to get done at LB but they will tell you none have played their best game yet.

-Pruitt said one of his favorite rooms is the running back room. They're competitive and it makes them better.

-Likes 11am kickoffs, especially on the road, as opposed to sitting around all day.

-Tracey Rocker and Charles Kelly have a lot of pride in their school (Auburn). Sure they pull for them every day they aren't playing us.

-Trey Smith has played one year of football and missed most of fall practice. This off week was good for him. He needs to gain confidence. We shouldn't put unrealistic expectations on him. He's another guy that will tell you he hasn't played his best game yet.

Seems to be saying the right things here. Hopefully it produces some small results saturday.

Agreed. My only hope for the season was to be at least competitive in every game. I think we did well enough against GA to at least say we were competitive. A few bounces our way and one or two busted coverage plays and the score might have been much more respectable.

"If at first, the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up... put on more steam" RN
"Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes" RN

Keep grinding guys, it's going to happen.

Good stuff. Wishing the best for Flowers. Hope he heals fully so he can be 100% when he returns. That int got called back because of the offside penalty, but it was a head's up execution. It's much better for an int to get called back on an offside penalty play than a touchdown on a play with the penalty declined. Smith is an All-American. He'll be A-OK.

I dont think pruitt has a loser mentality and that is one.
I agree, I don't think he has a loser mentality either, but if you are implying recognizing the skill level that needs to be improved, and by implication, the root cause of this lack of skills, is a loser mentality, I disagree. I see it as a an accurate assessment of skill inventory related to the desired level. We may both be arguing the same point but from different angles.

No, making the assessment is a smart thing to. But no true leader blames a past leader for cirrent failures.

That is an excellent point. Though he may recognize the issue since it is needed information to apply the proper cure in the proper way.

I dont know if its the right read on that but my take is that Pruitt is a SUPER aggressive guy. Cannot wait to get on the field and crush his opponent. Like David, he is running TOWARD Goliath. Hope we have as good of a result as that biblical skirmish.

This quote from Pruitt should say it all. I mean we have upperclassmen on almost every level of the defense and on the OL. Yet Pruitt is saying they are having to spend extra time on simple basic things like blocking and tackling. My God...

The thing I hope we have most in Pruitt is the ability to evaluate talent. Therefore, recruit the right guys. Then, Can he get them to Knoxville and develop them to their highest possible abilities.

This was what Kiffin said about fulmer's players ..... and Dooley said about Kiffin's players ... and Butch said about Dooley's players. See a pattern here???

The clips they aired on Finebaum, CJP looked tired and defeated. Reminded me of Butch last year. Maybe they left out the inspirational stuff.

You may read CJP that way, I don't. He might be a little frustrated at the lack of talent development, but he's not defeated, or tired, I assure you.
