Jeremy Pruitt open to playing 2 quarterbacks against West Virginia

Adrian Martinez has been announced as the starter for Neb. as a true freshman. Shrout could very well be starting by Fl. game.

What’s worse is that nobody has stepped up to TAKE the job. Which means we most likely have your last two options....
I think it is more likely that Pruitt has his man (Chryst) but there is no reason to tip West Virginia off of what we're doing. I remember Guarantano's body language during the Georgia Tech game last year... I hope we don't see that again.

Doesnt really matter which of the two get the start. The 1st will get pulled once they have about 3 or 4 bad series in a row. If they both have 3 consecutive poor series then it’s time to panic.

It's Guarantano, then Chryst, then "I hope our running game and defense are stout."

JG starts. KC will play. If KC comes out with the first team before halftime, that's a sign. Not a good one, unless we're up by 21 at that point. I expect to see KC in the 2nd half, unless it's a tight game and JG is holding his own. CJP can evaluate his QB's in Games 2 and 3. This one, he wants a win, and he'll do whatever he can to get it. McBride and Shrout will be wrestling over who holds the clipboard.

There. Mystery solved. See you Saturday.

Go Vols.

I think CJP is just taking a page from Saban's book and hiding his intentions from the media. He surely knows, or has a darn good idea, of who he's starting at every position. At least I hope he does. It probably doesn't bode well for us if he doesn't.

I think he loves Shrout and both gaurantano and Chryst end up sitting the bench. I predict JT Shrout will be our starter by the Florida game and not look back.

I certainly hope Shrout isn't the starter before season's end. If he is, it more than likely means Guarantano and Chryst were absolutely horrendous or both got hurt. Shrout is a prime RS candidate. I have no doubt he'll play this season with the new RS rule, but he still has a lot of developing to do despite his enticing arm talent. Its no coincidence that he threw 25 INTs as a HS senior.

Let's hope he's just playing his cards close to the vest. Its frightening to think that nobody has separated themselves by now.

I love disinformation!

Now WV has to prep for two QBs with different strengths and tendencies and they won't know which one they get till game time.

It'll be Chryst. And if for some reason it's JG, then it means its a MUCH improved JG. You don't bring in a grad transfer QB with one final year remaining to get himself to the pros possibly for him to sit on the bench unless the other guy is just really that much better. Chyst wasn't gonna go from being a starter to a backup. Just think he's our guy this year. And the non-commital stuff is to keep WV guessing, as well as us, as well as give JG a fair chance to improve and possibly win the job. Worst case scenario, JG is available if Chryst is hurt, and then if JG transfers, well, then Shrout has a year under his belt and in the weight room, and we'll work with it.

Which one is better at handing off the ball? That is where we get about 300 yards of offense and burn 30 minutes off the clock with. Other than that we need someone to throw for at least 150 yards without turnovers to salt it away and eat up another 10 minutes of the clock.

If Chryst starts, he will go the full game and Vols win. Just my 2 cents.

I think people are reading too much into this comment. He is clearly just keeping his intentions hidden. The only way I see them going to a 2nd QB in the game is if whoever starts gets injured or has an unimaginably terrible performance.
I think we need to see what each can do and believe him.

My thought is that you give the guy with the highest ceiling the first crack at it if there's little no separation between the two (JG). Regardless, I agree that he's just trying to keep WVU guessing. One has to think he knows who the starter at each position is going to be by now with game week upon us.

We'll play one most of the game. That will be the guy that plays the best when he is called upon to play a series. If JG starts and we score on the first series I suspect we won't see two QB's . Great to keep you options open and let the QB's know that they are still competing even if they may not be at all.

Toldya. Pruitt will do it. He'll play his two main QBs. I dare say both simply make it harder for him to pick just one and stick with him. JG is going in intent on showing he should be the one, and burying last year's stink. KC is going in to make it clear he's nobody's "freshman" backup. The improved OL is going in with a JG attitude. Both QBs are going to produce, and produce well. By playing both Pruitt is actually making it harder to pick one. BUT down the stretch, it will be statistics that decides which he solely leans on during the Rhodophyta laden rising water team. till then VN, hang on. This is gonna be one "heil" of a ride.

face it! We know nothing because that is the way Pruitt wants it!

guess what--West Virginia knows about the same as us!

Lets trust our coach. We will all learn at the same time!

I never felt this good about Butch or Dooley at this time of the year!
